I'd have to say Indianapolis, IN. there is a whole bunch of us here, just ask anyone who lives here. HAHAHA
Anytown .... On any given weekend - in any given town I have seen a dozen rods parked at the local diner in a town of less than 100 people .... Jim
Pomona sounds good to me, maybe Southern California may have started it. There have always been somebody changing something to go faster all over this great country, from the big industrial cities to the hill of the moonshiners.
If you were to look up the circulation of HOT ROD, CAR CRAFT, ROD & CUSTOM etc., by region, the midwest has always been at the top of the heap since the late fifties according to STANDARD RATE & DATA. This coming from a guy that grew up in the fifties in SOCAL.
well i look at it this way.............. the early magazines that came out came from southern california. car craft, hotrod, rod&custom, and many, many more. folks like barris, winfield, roth, and many, many more all cut their teeth in california. now the creators of the performance parts that blossomed into what there is today that were created by the names of; iskenderian, arias, edlebrock, bell safety equipment, simpson, ed pink, keith black, dean moon, and many, many more. drag racing and crusing and surfing and a lot more came from southern california. but today all that has spread world wide, but the originators and the manufacturers are still MADE IN AMERICA.
When I was growing up in the 50's and 60's , if you were into hotrods & kustoms , you found them in Southern California the most of anyplace around at that time . They were all over the USA back then but you read and heard about most of them coming from that area the most . California was the big place for hotrods and drag racing back in the day ! Just my opinion ! Retro Jim
was asking for a City - narrowing down to one depends on a lot of stuff. I would say L.A., because it covers a lot of territory in SoCal
I think Southern California too, BUT....the "Honorary" ***le HAS to be Detroit, doesn't it? I mean, c'mon!
Pomona??!! SoCal yes, but Pomona is like T.J. and I do my best to avoid it as much as possible since I only live a couple miles from Pomona.
I raised this question once before and it turned into a ******* competion as it will do every time I guess.I am sure some location will be famous for some stuff and others for a different style.
