Thanks for the kind words Plung. Haven't figured out how I'm going to operate them yet. Maybe from the inside with the original handle or something else. Not too keen on electrically operated though.......

Had a couple of hours today to install the bolt for the bear claws. It took a bit of measuring and tweeking, but got the door in there properly with all the gaps lining up. I did notice the bottom of the door slightly touching the inner rocker panel, so I'll have to massage the bottom of the door a little.

Looks good man, from the light dancing on your car it looks like the whole thing is a plastic model car lol. optical illusion I guess. Have you had your glass cut yet? Are you going with a seamless front windshield?

Optical illusion indeed. I haven't got any glass cut yet. The front windshield is going to be two pieces. Either with a chrome divider or the glass cut at a slight angle and "bonded" together. Decisions, decisions.....

Slower than I'd like but sometimes life is just so busy. I have 2 very active sons who keep me on the go most of the time. Both have been riding motorcycles since the age of 3. Between Family life, work, and a other car projects going on there isn't a lot of time left in the day. I guess when I think about it Life is good right now. I'm not complaining at all and I wouldn't change a thing. And it's cheaper to watch you build yours. :D

I hear where you're coming from.....building a car does require good planning in a very broad sense of the word. It's not always easy and I don't think it is supposed to be. Good luck with the 49!

Thanks sevenevez. Looks like you're progressing on your shoebox as well!

  16. Please put a divider between in and don't bond it, it's not a street rod ;)

Thanks guys. Like I said, I haven't decided on the divider yet, but am leaning towards using it.

  20. i might be the only one. but i do like the bonded glass. I think either way it will look great.

Would also recommend the divider, has more class....problem is though, to get the stainless window frame right, with the chopped window. Have the same problem right now and no solution yet.

So might end up with redoing the trim in bras and chrome it....which is f"$$%$§!!!!! expensive and hurts.

did i mention i love this post?...this will be such a great ride Eric!

I did take a few pics of cars with bonded front windows when I was in Las Vegas earlier this year. They don't look bad, if you ask me. It certainly won't look out of place, considering my rear window is also a single piece.

Got to work on the passenger door today and welded in the bear claw plate. I still need to use the Dremel to clean up some of the welds I couldn't get to with the grinder.

Lookin good eric. I like the pic of the lowered mid 40's plymouth you posted, given me some ideas.

Rodstrace, thanks for that link. never knew they made a one piece front glass. I used to have a pic of a 40 dodge with a bonded front windsheild, I didn't like the look of it. I bet the one piece would look alot better.

It does look cleaner, I agree. I think either way, it will look good. Here's the one on Egay.

I guess cutting that to fit your chopped top could cause a serious headache..
