Had that "North Georgia Sippin' Brew" a few times. Made the trip home from Commerce a bit fuzzy.

Went to our local "sprit" establishement, and purchased a bottle of his "CatDaddy" . While not as good as the apple pie, over ice it does go down VERY SMOOTH. Its slightly sweet, with alot of spice in it. Be good with a mixer, just not sure what..... Maybe Martinellis cider would be a holiday hit!!

Wow, Serious ouch is right for Steve McBlane. Hope the heads are ok.

No plans for changes this year, I am going to run it like it is next year, the converter is a bit loose but the motor sure likes to run like that. Should be able to run 10.80's to 11.00's next year. As long as things go well we'll look at some changes for the next year.

The 65 AFX Comets were not dollar cars like the first ten Thunderbolts were! The 65 AFX Comets cost $3000.00 of which $50.00 was put down as a deposit with the remainder $2950.00 to be paid by Nov 30 1965. If Ford supplied the Comet with a SOHC engine ( 4 cars had ) the 427 SOHC was returned to Ford Motor Company. One Comet owner didn't comply with the contract that being George Delorian and they went court over it, Ford won the case and George gave the Comet back. The following year it was raced as the Charging Comet by Gapp & Roush then returned back to Ford at the X garage for testing and later parts taken off and the remainder of the body cut up and scrapped. At that time Ford felt it was unsafe to race any more.
P.S. Ford did not crush the cars back then like Pontiac One said on a different web site that got turned off.

Incredible photography! Almost like it was a model!! Beautiful car!

I picked up my "new" transbraked equipped C-4, on loan from Ernie The Attorney's race stable. I'm very excited to see what the car'll do with a stall speed somewhere north of 6000 rpms! TCI is re-working the first convertor I had to accomplish this. Only wished I had it all in by the Christmas Show, but it looks like both Hoffman and Poole will just have to wait for the Little White WonderCar to run them down another day!!!!

Damn! Comets make really bitchin racecars!

  21. proscriptus, that 64 looks brand new. Great resto job.

That's a Randy DeLisio job--I think more than half of the Thunderbolts and lightweight Comets have been under his hands. Lightweight CJs too. Knows his stuff.

    Steve:
Did that broken " cast crank" come out of the Dyno Don 65 AFX Comet that 422 Motorsport runs? Doesn't that have a 427 FE SOHC engine in it? I saw the car at the York Fairgrounds Show earlier this year! I also seen it run at Bever Bob's Dragstrip, it ran in 8.0's. It ran better than the original car did back in the day. ~~~~~~~~AFX DAVE~~~~~~~~

  26. The car you speak of has never ran 8.0s...and no it does not run a SOHC engine. It has a wedge in it.

I think Steve's best was a 9.02,FE wedge, not sure of cubic inches.I believe the only SOHC powered car out of 422 is the blue 65 Falcon.Steve built that 65 Comet himself,he also has a beautiful 64 Fairlane street car with an injected FE,he has great fabricating talent!! ROY.

  28. Roy, the Falcon doesn't have a cammer in it anymore. None of 422's cars run a cammer now.
Stevie's car is very nice!! It's a shame he broke the crank. It seems there were a few cranks broken this year by the 422 group. I think they are going in a differant direction for their cranks in the future from what I've been told.
