"Here's a few from the last merc and deuce reunion in '99" Great photos. I remember quite a few of those cars from the KKOA SledSceneEast shows in Gettysburg, PA. We traveled alot more then. There's a salmon/orange colored '53 Olds that has always been one of my favorites. I think the owner's name was Morehouse. I wonder if it's still around. I remember spending about a week poring through my car reference books trying to discover what he used for side-trim because it looked so good. I finally figured it out: ...1953 Oldsmobile!
The Olds was actually built for Joel Scheipe, from Long Island, by an old custom builder, Joe Manieri, from PA. Joel drove it a year or 2 and then sold it to Morehouse. Joe was a great body man and builder, who also built "Angel Eyes" , a gorgeous Merc, also homed in Long Island. IIRC, it was a 52 "98" which is why it looks more like a 53.
Thanks for the info, I never knew who built it. So a '52 98? There were pretty rare even when new. I remember "Angel Eyes," too, another really nice car.
I had four fords cust 'em all. Back up for more pics. Don't want to own one but I do like looking at them.
Can i bump this question up? I have a picture of it from the early '00s but never seen it since. Pretty weird in an intresting way. I'd love to kno more.
You guy's will have to excuse me a bit with the sarchasm of Bob K. Anyway ... It is a '55 Dodge and still runs the 270 hemi. I have a 3 duece carb set up on it and have a late model Dodge overdrive trans hooked up to it and a late model rear end assy. Great cruiser. Gets about 23 MPG at 70 on the highway. I have no idea who Jimmy Z. is but I have built and owned this car since 1998. Started out with a very complete rust free car but it was in need of a lot of TLC. Did all the work myself. I did own a body shop business until retiring out of it a few years back. We specialized in kustom kar building. The intention of the build was to build an "Old Skoool" style kustom. I hope we succeded. I have driven it from Wisconsin to Salina Ks. for the KKOA event for the last three years with no problems. I put on about 2000 miles on it that weeknd alone. I guess you could consider it a mild kustom, all the usual modifications, plus a few personal touches. I would be interested in seeing the picture Bonez has of it. If you care to see what I was building in those body shop years go to www.kustomtouch.yolasite.com. ...John T..
Dodge Bro, i was talkin about this car in the second "quoted" post. I actually really like your car, looks like a very well built ride but its the 1st time i ever seen it. Thanx for the info.
