Stupid question, but where the heck is the hood release on a 53 buick? Just picked up a 53 Buick special 2 door sedan and I cant find the hood release Doesnt this one open up from either side?
yup, 53 opens from the front. But I am thinking there is a release beneath the dash. Black knob that may appear to be a vent knob right about the e-brake? if I recall.
53 Buick was a normal front opening. Some models had a remote cable, others had a lever through the grille
Right you are, just found the black knob for the cable release, and it actually still works. Looks like that cable kept anyone from stealing parts, looks original under there.
Thanks, I love bringing home cars that have sat a long time, sometimes find neat stuff in them. Trunk is still closed, no key, so who knows what is in there. Probably a rusted trunk floor!
will find out in a few days, will have to sit until then. If anything died in there it is long dried out, no smell The 37 Buick trunk looked like this when I cleaned it out! I should of left it closed.
I'm guessing a box of magazines, a jack but no jack handle, a spare Buick radio, some tire chains in a dilapidated bag, and some kind of ice scraper. dj
