The Yankee Peddler's gonna to have to be on his game!

I just realized that my tried and true Firestone DOT's weigh in at a HEFTY 42 pounds each!!! Not only am I on a diet, but the Rocket's going to shed some outer space baggage as well!!!

Just my opinion...but your Comet should be quicker than it is.Something just ain't right with your Rocket.I don't know if it's your combination of parts or what...do you have a couple of plug wires mixed up?Also, aerodynamically it's a brick with the front end so high.If you want to shed some serious weight get the glass front bumper.Mine weighs 11 lbs.I would really like to see your Comet run as good as it looks!

Dale;the "ROCKET" is a poser, just kidding!!His 64 was built as a street car more than a race car,12.60s out of his combo is pretty stout and consistent as hell!!I have been giving Dale crap that he needs to decide which way to go,drag racer or street car.More cam, more compression, more headaches, etc.!! ROY.

Sir; How come I keep having trouble logging in this website? You emailed me a new password! How come old one won't work any more? I guess I am new at these machines now a days. I worked on a design computer from 1985 to 2001 until I retired!

To the eastern Pa. AFX Comet Lovers:
Weather permerting Tony Conover is bring a real 65 AFX Comet to the show. It being the Arney Beswick AFX Comet set up the way he would have Match Raced it if he would have continued with Mercury's Racing Team. It has the 427 SOHC with Hilborn Fuel Injection, Vertex Mag, and Alum. Heads. The engine was built by Bill Coons Pro Engines.
It has all the lightweight parts that the 65 AFX Comets had. Weight is around 2500#.
Just craw under to see how they were put it together. CRUDE not like today's standards.

That's at The Bruce Larson's Hotrod Reunion on Sunday November 13 2011

The question was raised about combinations, sometime ago I purchased the Comp Cams Desk Top Dyno and the Desk Top Drags 5 programs. They have a newer dyno program called Dyno Sim 5 with some additional bells and whistles, I didn’t like it as much, the bells and whistles weren’t that important and the cylinder head part of the program didn’t work properly. With the same information the newer program also gave a faster ET. The original Desk Top Dyno program has been pretty accurate. The programs aren’t simple to work with but the instructions are very good, it should be fun and rewarding. (This is starting to sound like an advertisement.) It takes a lot of time to look up info on cylinder head air flow and you must have the camshaft card specs, but all the info is on the manufactures websites.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

You can enter your basic combination, bore, stroke, compression, intake, carb size, headers, etc, then you need details of the cylinder heads (intake and exhaust flow) and camshaft details off the cam card. Once you have all the information in your computer you can take your combination and swap cylinder heads and camshafts looking for desired horsepower and torque curves. To accelerate the learning curve start by using a known combination.

Then the horsepower and torque curves can be entered into the Desk Top Drags 5 program to get an ET prediction. This program also needs some details that you have to work out. I still find the ET’s to be a little fast but acceptable.

Last year when I wanted to step up the camshaft I entered the cam specs for recommended cams in the program before making a selection, I would have had very disappointing results if I hadn’t. Because of this program I also learned about the acceleration rate of a camshaft which has to do with valve train life. You might find a different camshaft will be much easier on your valve train and still give you the performance you want.

I hope this helps someone, I would be glad to answer any questions. Merritt

Looks like we are losing some Drag Strips this winter. Raced at this one just last year for the first time. Started in the late sixties, Not a bad track. It was a lot like Bowling Green.

I built my car to hit some of these tracks before they are gone.If you can travel get out there and race on some of these tracks.Losing more and more of the sixties. Damn it

Great pics Ken, sad about the strips closing down. I guess we need another Walmart, (or Costco).

There are some good additions to the thread, again, so lets hope more show up as well.
    Eric

PS, I remember that trip to OK, seemed to be a bit longer, coming home...

I think you were stuck with tony that time. Ha He does tend to make a trip longer. I think if I remember right he took you guys on a 200 mile Short cut.

That is a Bad Ass stance. Have to give it up to the 65's for attitude.

So I noticed that that B/FX doesnt have a Dash Pad. Was that a B/FX delete option, Standard. The A/FX still got the Dash Pad. Dave do you know?

Yes, the vast beauty of Kansas flat lands, was a real joy, and added to the piss and moan factor, it was amazing..... My truck/trailer, and someone elses car, still wondering how that happened??
The red 65 looks great, though!!

Never seen these before. Exhaust adapters To go from a SOHC to a High Riser 427 Wedge. Cool Idea, If you had that back up engine with you at the track.

A/FX Ford SOHC-to-HR/MR header adapters (Honolulu)

Its the semi-final round at the 1965 Winternationals in Pomona, and you just blew up the SOHC 427 in your A/FX Comet. You have just enough time to swap engines, but only have a High-Riser 427 available. Great, but what about the exhaust pipes? You brought a pair of these along, didn't you?

    Call (808) 384-3673 if serious.

Hi guys, the header adapters are just one of the oddball items in my inventory I'm trying to get rid of since I never expect to use them, just hang 'em on the wall. Surprised anyone off the rock noticed them!

Regarding the pictured A/FX and B/FX interiors, there are a lot of differences, besides the dash, the window regulators, shifter trim ring, lower door trim panel, seat tracks, etc. Makes me wonder what's a "factory" modification and what changed over time?
