I'm here reading and enjoying everyones postings and pictures each and every day here on this thread, the midget thread and the modified stock car thread (that's been moved to the Dogfight forum) as well.

I'm doing fine (for an old guy), THANKS so much for asking.

Old legs (that need some replacement parts) kept me from Stan's GRRRREAT shindig this year, as well as Ken Brenn's show and some other events that I enjoy so much. I sure MISSED seeing all you good folks at these Old Timers/Vintage happenings this year. Hopefully I'll be out & about more next year.

Tony, as always your photos are TOP SHELF! Thanks so much for your wonderul pictures of the absolutely beautiful Joe Fiore owned and restored Wynns #1 sprint car. It's a perfect example of what open cockpit race cars should still look like, instead of the "door stops with wheels" that we have today.

Either here on the Midget thread (or maybe on a new Historic TQ thread) someone should post some news of the new VINTAGE DIVISION of the ATQMRA (American Three Quarter Midget Racing Assoc.) here in the east, that was started and is being steered by Gary Mondschein. There's A LOT of wonderful open cockpit history in TQ (three quarter) midget racing too.

After Wally sold the car,Mickey Shaw spent time behind the wheel.

 

In that dick atkins pic it looks like the #1 is in the background.

 

Good catch I didn`t notice that. Not sure which car he was in then. I took a photo of the photo in Joe`s scrapbook-LOL.

 

Big brothers of the sprint cars,but sure worth watching.

.....'Of course the Wynns #1 is in the background. After Rutherford broke both arms at Eldora early in the year, Andretti moved into the #1 car and Atkins was hired to drive Wally's #9 car; the championship winning car from the year before.

The enclosed pic is Rutherford and Andretti at Reading (PA) in Wally's team cars.

I'm sure Joe knows how a lot of us feel about his restoration of his historical car but these new pics that Tony took over the weekend are beyond words to describe the unbelievable beauty of that car.

I even saved the pics that Joe posted a year or two ago of just the bare chassis of the #1 car. And what was surprising about those photos was that it revealed Wally's decision to simply weld the roll bar on to the top of the 'seat hoop?'

 

Been thinking about fuel lines for my midget while feeding the baby in the middle of the night.

For a mild chevy II, what size line do I need for feed and return. I was thinking #8 for feed and #6 for return, but that seems big for this little engine. #6 both ways?

Neil, #6 is what we use for all fuel lines.

I always thought Sweikert owned both cars but believe me I am not about to doubt anything that Monkaz says because he obviously knows of what he writes and I have learned an awful lot just reading his responses and entries on this site.

I sure wish I could get this car is a pretty,grassy setting,all by itself and really go to town taking photos of it.

Hi Denny,

Yes,Jerry was Scott Karl`s dad. Scott was pretty good in Super Sportsmen and then Sprints,but his wife was against him racing,so he quit.

 

Great job on the lettering on the Wynn's car!!! Nice to see one done correctly. I see way too many vintage cars with vinyl on them.

 

Obviously, some kid trying to cash in on my name!

 

Radiator has had its core fitted,final position of inlet and outlet ports decided,and fan fitted.Some templates have been made for mounts,and I've had an ally thermostat housing made (hate plastic parts) I love it when the plumbing gets done on a project,it always seems like I'am on the downhill......silly I know......now fuel next..........
