I purchased a kwik wire 14 set and have a few issues, so i called asking for clarification. I was amazed at the way I was treated on the phone. They only supply instructions for cars equipped with gm switches and columns. I was basically told "Sorry if you don’t have that". They will however sell you a wiring schematic separately. In fact they state that their install is so easy that most people don’t even use the instructions and i should be able to figure it out, also that in 20 years of production they have never had anyone call to complain. So apparently I’m a idiot and I bought a wiring harness without clear instructions. They then told me if i don’t like the instructions I can send it back and buy from someone else as long as i haven’t modified it (um I’m installing it in the car).

So lesson learned avoid Kwik wire.

Before spouting off about a company on the web do yourself a favor and read about a product before ordering then bitching. Just checked their website. Clear as day instruction guide. Also states to lay out wiring harnass check that you have and understand completely before proceding. Your last rant was about your insurance company not wanting to pay you to fix your own car, which is the same deal you didn't read your policy. The way it sounds is you called ranting and raving and the person on the phone didn't want to hear it.

Have installed 7 of their 14 circuit units in various cars-always use the instructions and write down any modifications I make as I go-never have really had any problems yet-5 in 40 Fords with modern amenities, one in a 55 Chevy and one in a 66 Chevelle drag car--good as any for me-only had to call them once for clarification on a horn circuit--getting ready to buy another for a 40 Ford. Sometimes have to figure out the turn sig brake wiring as they aren't usually GM turn signal switches that I use and the columns and switches aren't usually GM.

..I got Kwik wiring in 3 of my hotrods....never a problem with customer service...in fact, they went overboard to help me...even follow up with me months later to see if I had any problems....Hope you can settle your problem with them....they are really nice people to deal with and have a very good products...Good luck

  5. I always make my own harness, unless I am buying a plug n play stock replacement.

Here's the deal you complain about a product because it is inferior not because you don't know how to use it. What if I bought a Hilborn Injection unit and couldn't figure out how to tune it, would that be Hilborn's fault?

Respect is a 2 way street and if you rant at customer service like you do on here then I'd hang up the phone.

It is to bad that companies can not do a search to see who they are selling parts to first. This same kind of thing is what makes buisness so damn hard nowadays.

every time you start to pull the trigger before the pistol has cleared the holster...you'll shoot yourself in the foot. OP should engage his brain before he runs his mouth (or keyboard).

I used one in my 48 Poncho. Only problems I had were ones I created myself and they even helped me with those. They were the nicest, friendliest and most helpful company I have worked with in a while, especially Shawn.

This was the 5th car I wired and this kit by far was the best one I have used. Will not hesitate to buy from them again!

    btw its "lesson" not leason:D

Actually brad, I did my research, and the company I purchased the wire kit from had a wire diagram posted that was not for the kit sold.

I have rewired a car before this is not my first time to do this, their instructions were not clear, i am not an idiot.

And for your information the insurance company came back out said i was correct the damage was higher than the original appraiser values adn tripled the payout amount. I dont get on here to bitch and moan. I Had googled this company before purchasing and found mixed reviews. I was just passing along so others could be informed. there are not many 6volt harnes manf. so selection is limited. Having to do it again iwould go with reble wires like others have.

I haven't bought a kit from Kwik Wire, but I have purchased individual components from them at shows around the Midwest. The main guy (owner possibly?) was always nice and very helpful to me every time I saw him. Seemed to remember me from one year to the next (I build slow). Answered my questions and helped me get the correct parts for my odd application. I can only give high marks to Kwik Wire.

It's been proven many times that anyone can learn to read whatever is written when words are misspelled...most words simply need sounded out to understand them, however, too many times similar words are spelled wrong even when sounded out...as in: where for were (and vice-versa), their for there, or they're, your for you're, read, red, lead, led, get the pic...??? In your case, P'n'B, as in mine, I believe it's age that causes us to misspell words...especially the word "fahn"...all the others seem to be OK in your statement...

Was said in jest of course. But on the other hand, knowing how to read and write well is somewhat useful when it comes to understanding instructions.

    as fab32 says:

    Isn't that the truth.

http://www.kwikwire.com/products.html Click on instruction book, click on download, scroll and read, it doesn't get any frigging simpler and those are some of the best instructions I have seen from any rod parts manufacture.

Damn, Ykp53 what the hell more do you want than a set of pfd instructions right there at the top of their web page that walk even the biggest bone head though it step by step.

Here is two lbs of good cheese to go with that whine.

And yes most of us expect a person to be able to type a readable sentence and spell the words correctly. We aren't expected to dumb down for street creds with our homies.

I've never had a problem with my wiring from them it's been in for 14 years. Gary (owner) is a heck of a nice guy. I have a conversation with he or his wife every time I see them, they couldn't be nicer.I find it hard to believe you were treated in the manner you state unless you were spouting off the way you did here
