    Looks to me they are installing an automatic lubrication system for the suspension components.
    I still wouldn't work under that car in that position!
    Never seen anything like that!

    As it turns out.
    Lincoln/Mercury offered a multi-luber option in that era. With the touch of a dash mounted button, it would lubricate all suspension fittings.
    That has to be what this is.

    wonder if it is a "dealer installed" option.

    I think you are correct as to what they are doing. I am pretty sure that this was not an option on the '55 Lincoln shown(we bought a new one in '55 when I was a kid). It was an option on the '56's, possibly standard on the Premiere series. I wonder if this installation was either a prototype being installed on a '55 or a dealer retrofitting one of these systems for a customer.

    Looks like Sunbeam Imps during the embryotic stage. I liked those cars, very competetive rallye/and Grp 2 circuit racers
