Thanks for all the concern guys. I just got home, safe and sound. Big Olds is at HAMB member HotRodPurplePickup's place in Battle Creek. After a two hour wait a AAA rollback picked me up. Then had a 100 mile tow to George's place. Just so happened that Chris AKA KoolKat here on the HAMB was being trailered home to Albion, MI because his '31 broke in Decauter, IL. Lucky for me Battle Creek was on the way home for him. Perfect timing as he got to George's place 5 minutes before I did. I then hopped in the truck with him, dropped his trailer at his place then he took me alittle further down the highway were my Dad picked me up at a truck stop. Human HAMB rely! I'd like to publicly thank Enjeno, KoolKat, PurplePickUp's lovely wife Sue, KoolKat's AWESOME folks and of course my Dad for all helping out today. I'll get a truck and trailer this week and go back and pick up Big Olds. Thanks again for all the concern and well wishes.
DAMN has it been a long day lol. a big thanks for denice and big olds don and his buddyc(an't remember his name) for having level heads when my motor blew on the way to the show. Even though i had to ride shot gun, i got to enjoy my 1ST and unfortunatly last HUNERT CAR PILEUP. Now i just need to talk my dad into taking out that v-6 and putting the nailhead in it lol
I merged the two posts to *hopefully* create less confusion. Please accept my apologies up front if it creates more.
Holy ****!! I blew my big chance to meet HRLC and the big Olds. I was watching the Colts instead of being on the HAMB. I live near by and could'a helped. Well good luck on getting it back up and running Denise. Normal Norman
Sorry to hear about the wiring trouble. Got on here to make sure your group made it back with the brake leak... Instead you broke and had to take a break. Was good visiting with ya'll before you headed back to the hotel Saturday. The Unibody made it home fine with all 4 "moon caps" still attached.
sounds like a problem with the ignition switch. It basically controls any electrical that turns on with the key. I have seen them short insidfe and blow a puff of smoke like ytou are describing. On another note,I did not see the thread before you had it hauled back to Detroit. I would have helped load or could have repaired it at the shop. I am working at a large automotive shop in Battle Creek just off the highway at the Helmer Rd exit on Watkins RD. I still have the shop in Jackson but contracted myself out to get this shop up and running. I am driving back and forth every day from Jackson to Battle Creek. I am sure BO is in good hands but if any help is needed as far as the electrical, well that is what I specialize in. Glad everything turned out OK.
Too far for me, but if no one up there steps up I'll go after her. Drop Uncle Scooby a note, he's handy as hell and always up for a rescue. actually have her call me if nothing else I will try and walk her though the repairs over the phone. Benno
His mind went COOKIES!!!! and he forgot to check for dates Z. I never did see anything about the outcome of that episode in cruizing with Big Olds.
You are a sweetheart, thanks for the offer. Can I PM/call you if I/we have questions during the new Ididit column install? I've never done one before. Going to install a new Ididit steering column as my current one is so shot it's not worth repairing again. Thanks for the offer sweetie, got it handled.
anytime. everyone always thinks electrical is so hard when it is just a mateer of following your electrical diagram. Just make sure you take extra time to seal all of your connections so you don't have a problem with corrosion a year or 2 from now. I use dialectric grease in all of my connectors and shrinktubing at all my soldiered joints. This will ensure that no corrosion happens down the road. Black electrical tape is OK for loom but that is about all its good for. just my opinion.
