A BIG THANKS for posting this one, Moe! :D Brings back a memory from a second-
grade field trip in about 1958 from Empire Elementary School, Mansfield, Ohio.:p
Though this is Ames, Iowa, it's like looking at my own classmates. It surely seems
as though many teachers were pretty cool back then. Instead of just sitting in
the classroom and reading ABOUT things, they loaded us up on the bus and we visited
a real dairy, saw milk pasturized and bottled, AND got a FREE Eskimo Pie as a sendoff!:)

Pretty cool when you're 7 going on 8! From there, we went to the fire station

and got the grand tour, capped off (of course!) getting to slide down the firemen's
pole, just like when an alarm sounds, they throw on the bunker gear and beat cheeks
for the trucks! ("Liability issues" would make that IMPOSSIBLE today! But it was
a different world, ya know?;)) What a day that was. Treats like that made school
    ALMOST tolerable!

I bought my son the a set of the 1940's Batman serial. And since it derives from WWII, a lot of the plots are based on his battle with enemy agents of "The Empire." Lots of cool footage of LA and the valley from 1942.

Thanks for the memories SWI66, I hired the 1949 Batman series on film about 30 years ago and was probably one of the guy's only customers. Nobody seemed interested in film then and projectors and cameras went for about $5.

The Duo Robert Lowery and John Duncan

My fave scene is where Batman takes a another look at the toy truck after a demonstration by the commissioner as the others turn away, having to peer awkwardly around the pronounced nose of his costume. Unfortunately I burnt the film pondering that scene :p

I think this guy just got socked by Robin...

  21. Kinda-sorta, at a first glance the kids look like teenaged James MacArther, Paul Newman, Biff Tannen, and Nick Adams... I know it ain't them but there are some resemblences.
