ever since doing this " " i have not been able to sign in at all. i removed the hamb from the list and i am still not able to log on while using internet explorer. i did however download Google chrome and it seems to work fine. Ryan i deleted the cookies, cashe etc as requested. i deleted files from the prefetch file as well as ran malwarebytes anti malware several times and still was not able to stay logged in for any period of time. Google chrome may have fixed the problem but it still seems like an inconvenience to get on chrome specifically to check out the hamb. i am a member of other boards and without any issues there. is there something else that can be done to fix this issue? thanks!
Me too. Followed Ryans directions and still acts up. Absolutely will not remember and log me in on my home computer. The Hamb will also log me off after a few minutes of inactivity ? And it will sometimes log me off moving from one thread to another. Or I can be logged on and go to make a reply, it lets me type the reply but when you try to submit it a screen pops up saying "You are not logged in" Using Windows 7 and the latest IE. At work, no issues at all sign on is easy it always remembers me.
Ok well this is getting really old. I thought I would down load the latest IE (IE 9) which I did to see if that would help. It didn't do anything. I was just logged into the Hamb and had it sitting here logged on. I went and ate a bowl of mini wheats and tried to go to another page and there I was logged off. Log on again, and for the 15th time tonight have to log back on even after clicking remember me. Looked at everything as per Ryans suggestions. Meanwhile any other forum I visit regularly continues to function as usual and log me on instantly and keep me logged on for as long as I like.
Any chance your browser is set to automatically clear cache , cookies, and temporary internet files when you close it? If it clears the cache each time, it won't remember that you're logged in.
I don't see how that could be when all the other forums I visit are working as usual and recognize my computer and log in is instant with no issues ever. The only site giving me fits is the Hamb.
Maybe the other sites remember your ISP number and the HAMB is remembered by the computer? I dunno, just a guess. Computers aren't really my thing.
Not sure what is up, but the Hamb continues to refuse to remember and I have to log in every time I visit from my home computer. It always remembers my work computer however. As usual every other forum I visit logs me in automatically. But not here It's a mystery
No mystery... your browser is out of allocated memory. Like I said, clear your cookies man. I'll bet it works.
Well, I did it, I went into the internet options and looked at all the cookies and deleted every darned thing in there I could find, the history and everything else. My computer has tons of memory. I signed up over on The Garage Journal and it like every other forum I visit continues to remember me and log me in flawlessly just by clicking a link on my list of favorites. Not so with the Hamb. Even clicking remember me does not work here on my home computer. Is there a maximum number of IP addresses the site will remember ? I have no problem with my work computer, it logs me into the Hamb no problem every time. It is kind of odd that all the other forums are operating fine from my home PC just the Hamb seems to be troublesome. Having to log in endlessly and sometimes multiple times in a session is a pain.
Nope. It's not a site issue. One thing I can do is force a new cookie on everyone. That might solve your issue. I"ll investigate tomorrow.
Curious Rash had me check some of my security settings and all that sort of thing, then he contacted me and said this "I just found a problem that didn't cause issues with Chrome but stopped Internet Explorer with teh settings you have. We fixed it so see if you get anything different. " After that everything is working as it should. I logged in this morning and no problems.
The instructions I sent him to try... Then I suggested he bump the cookie setting all the way down, if the trouble stopped, bump it up a notch until the trouble returns.
All I did that was different was deselecting the preserve favorites website data. Everything else is as it was including medium to high security setting levels. Seems to be working great now. Odd, as I had also deleted cookies and history prior to all this. After I did all you suggested I also had to log back in to all the other forums I frequent. Finally the Hamb remembers me too
I think the big issue is, with the newer versions of Internet Explorer, there is an option to NOT clear cookies for favorite sites. It is selected (dont clear) by default. If you have the HAMB in your favorites (and who doesn't?) and that box is checked, you are not clearing HAMB related data when you think you are. So, if you somehow got a bad HAMB related item cached, it keeps using that bad item instead of looking for a new one.
I hate cookies... I swear... and it's only worse now that these spammers are dropping their own. It really screws stuff up. Someone should make a plugin gallery that holds cookies long enough for a session and then drops them after a specific amount of time. That would solve all of this ****... You would have to login every day, but so what...
Some of the browsers have the ability to clear all cache when you sign off. It's just so damned confusing to set up. Google Chrome has "Add-ons" one of them is called "Cookies". You can "white list" the ones you want and set it to get rid of the others each time you close. Then if you think you are having trouble you can choose to delete them all.
