Hey guys, is there anything such as just a "bolt on" IFS for a 57 3100 series; or do will I have to do fab. and welding? Also, can someone tell me what donor trucks I can use for the conversion, because I cant afford to buy a new kit, like Mustang II? I'm not the greatest welder, so doing a clip is out. Thanks.

List the gains you want to get by IFS, first.

I'd look into a Jag XJ6. It isn't going to bolt in, but you could do all the fitting and pay a welder to come out and do the deed... Check the search function, lots about this one.

Look into Crown victoria front crossmember suspension assemblies, from 2003 and up. it is completly modular and all aluminum with rack and pinion steering. you can pick up a complete one for around 250, or pick up an entire crown vic for less the a 1000.

Howbout a 53 chevy ? You may have to weld some brackets to bolt it in or a C1 corvette front end.

the most sensible answer I've ever heard to this question....

Learn to weld is my only answer. Early C-10 is a good donar for IFS for your old truck BTW. They are cheap and you will need to learn to weld. if you cannot weld well tack it together and get someone else to weld it for you if you don't want to learn.

63-up C10 suspension would be a good donor if you are not trying to lower the truck too much, they're wide and kind of hard to get a truck with a straight frame like yours to sit on a suspension that fits a truck with a frame that kicks up in front and is narrower.

Or maybe your'e talking about the torsion bar 60-62 setup?

  10. If you would, read this: Bolt in Dodge Dakota based IFS

Then comment on my forum as to what you are truly looking for. Forum

I am looking for guys like yourself for input as to what you expect out of a kit like this.

    Thanks.

I welded a Volare under my 58 3100 Apache. You can make the axle and springs work too. The grey beards can give you the good parts to use.

Nothing wrong with a properly set up straight axle.
