Seems this year has been about finding 55 Chevy's and saving them. First was the farm fresh moredoor: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=597496 Then the new project...well maybe: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=642584 Today I went and picked up this 2 door sedan that was rotting away in a junkyard, destined to be squished soon.Yard owner wanted $500 and rather than see it go to China I paid the man and hauled it home. Worth the price in salveable parts to me.Has a tach and Hurst shifter.Grille and another set of trim in the trunk. I tossed in a pic of my 1974 Chevy 1T car hauler because like me it has a lot of miles on it.
Well, Well, Well another horder of the fine five five stuff. Nice save. Glad its in good hands. Fritz
That would be considered a steal in my neck of the woods and completely unheard of to find a 2 door in a salvage yard, except for the guys who want 2500 to 3500 for something that looks alot worse than that one.
I was thinking the same thing! THAT is a builder. I bought a 57 2 door post a few years back in worse shape for a lot more than that. Nice save for sure! And cool hauler too..we've been taking about getting on a lot like that! Tony
Nicce thing about tri 55s is the repop parts are easy to come by. What are your plans? Strip It? Build It? Flip It? J
Killer deal. For sitting in a wrecking yard, it looks pretty damb good-it didn't even get that many parts plucked off it! I agree in hoping it gets bought and built rather than parted out. Is there a 4 speed attached to the Hurst shifter? Looks like the roof was stomped on or had another car on it? From the looks of the paint/rust on the front end, it looks like it had an engine fire?
If it gets parted out. thats another one gone forever. theres enough repro parts it should be relitivly easy to save it.
There are 2 more 2 door sedans I bought this August I didnt take pictures of yet but I will so that gives me 5 total.Damn hoarder It will be saved. None of these cars came with a ***le so they will have to be bonded as Minnesota doesnt recognize any of the ***le services and I will not use a ***le that doesnt match the VIN. This car is really rusty when inspected closely. The doors look good but a quick pull of the lower skin proves they are rusted out at the seams. There is no floor to speak of.
Damn nice score!! Yea its got some rust, looks solid for Minnesota however, and it looks like someone stabbed it with a forklift in it's past, but all in all a very saveable car.
X2 , that car is really nice comapred to a '57 150 series sedan I just sold , and I got 2 grand out of it , had it listed in the cl***ifieds here , wanna double your money?
Took a couple of quick pics of the pair of 2 doors in the storage building.Poor lighting but the faded red one is pretty solid.White/blue was hit hard right behind p***enger front wheel and has bent cowl, frame and floor.Otherwise it is rust free. Also a couple pics of a 1939 Dodge 1/t pickup that wandered into my path and was picked up today.
Good possiblities with both those 55s. How much money is this guy looking for? Who is up for a build?
