I love the way they polished the aluminum of this Freightliner cab. Are there any pickup sized, aluminum cabovers to try this on?

dude, I'm searching like mad to verify this part source. I can't find anything from online parts stores that looks like that (granted most use stock photos...) where'd you source that pic from? this could be an ultimate bone yard wild card for COE guys fanangaling steering components.

Here is one on eBay and a list of the different years/models that it will fit (including the Honda Passport).

I saw one in the junk yard a few years ago, found the pic posted over at pirate4x4 where some one had suggested it for some one else's COE project.

Whoa, that Isuzu Rodeo unit is an amazing find. I bought the one on ebay, I also managed to find one of these: http://www.curtismachine.com/CSSB.html It's beefy, but I might be able to use it.

The Isuzu box looks like it will reverse the shaft rotation. So I think I'll either need two of them to zigzag to the steering box, or to spin the steering box around to face forward and remount the pitman 180deg off.

Here's a couple pics of what happens when you attempt to drop a cabover on top of a Toronado clip. Your feet are pretty much on top of the steering box.

I've got one of those 98-02 Isuzu Rodeo and Honda Passport units in my grubby hands now. For your COE steering nightmare pleasure... here's a few specs on them:

The angle between shafts is approx 65 degrees
    .625 -36 spline (probably really 16mm)
Mount flange plane is angled from the plane that both shaft axes are on.

It's been mentioned once but it's still my favorite, the GM Futurliner:

Here's a great website one one that was rebuilt from the ground up:

    http://www.futurliner.com/

Only 9 of the original 12 built are known to still exist.

That 50 GMC has a 60 cab... and the 55 IHC is in Saskatchewan, they guy wants ridiculously high amounts for everything, in the 15 years I have been going past where it is, nothing has ever changed or moved (the old stuff anyway)

  17. Well here is my addition.....not near as cool as most of the old rigs here, but it does what I need it to. It'll be getting a new diamond plate deck soon, not to many of these old fords with the sleepers.

I'm sure I saw this somewhere on a thread once... either way I love these!

You probably know it already, but they built them from 57 till the early 90's and they use a lot of 57-60 Ford truck parts.

  19. Yeah, i posted it in the vintage tow truck forum, forgot about the COE page though. This one is a '66

Got to appreciate the simple triple stacked bumpers on the front of it back then...

Just imagine what those bumpers would do to one of the little econoboxes built today.

Drove one of those for a company I worked for in the 70's. At first I said there was no way I'd get comfortable in that little thing. After a day and a half on the road, all of a sudden it was real cozy and I slept great.

Here's my addition. Dodge L600 tilt cab, I bought it out of north eastern Michigan. It was listed on Craigslist for well over a month... as a Dodge 600.... I guess nobody wanted to buy a cabover Aries K car!

Look's like the "Big Red Wagon". Looks like all Dodge did was put fenders on an A100 cab and mount it on one of their larger chassis. I like it !

That's just about what they did. They also made the doors longer, designed finish panels for the back of the cab, and made the structure the seats mount to a full width box with an access door in the middle to check engine fluids.
