The Ebay Comet is really unique. I've never seen this option before??

Here is the flyer made up for a upcoming match race. It'd be wild if I could beat this guy with steel wheels and Firestone slicks. Looking at ways today to lighten the load on the Comet for a quickie weight loss!!! Passenger seat, hood latch , radiator (?)

    Hey Dale,

Maybe Roy will loan you his engine for the weekend? NOT. To bad his old one broke. Great poster and have fun. Brian

Brian;I told Dale I still have the 347 and 352 rotating assemblies and 2 virgin blocks!!! I don't think we have time to get them ready though!!! He also needs to put that third pedal in there and move the rear end that last couple of inches, and put suspension travel limiters on the front!!! I also have a cross ram that would look great on the ROCKET!!! ROY.

Dale;glass bumpers, and judicious use of a hole saw,get rid of the cooling system and run straight moonshine,I mean alcohol, with about 30% nitro!!! ROY.

Dale, Roy is right. I don't see a clutch or a Jerico anywhere in that picture? I thought you were going to convert over to the "fun" side of racing? Brian

  9. Looks pretty good, but I don't like the hole in the roof rare or not.

Its all in good fun! I know that! Roy knows, more than most, that I try to have fun, while watching where the money runs to in these projects!! I've got a Windsor on the backburner, waiting for a day to build, and am slowly (SLOWLY!) selling off my collections of this and that, so that I can concentrate one one hobby item, the Rocket!!!

Here's a kicker! Hoffman and I talked about the possibility of having the cars shipped over to Europe to run a short match-race circuit with our friends in The Gasser Circus!!! Alot of logistics, but can some of you remember when the famous NHRA runners back in the day were transported all over Gods creation for shows??

I agree! The Rocket should have a Jerico/McCleod setup! Also glass front bumper and fenders. And I like the idea of the front end travel limiters. What intake and carb is being used?I'd like to see that match race!

We'll have to work on it with the friends over in England!!

In the meantime, I'm preparing for a pilgrimage to Indy:

Just picked up what has been a dream for many, many years. To own a "coveted" Lazy Daze RV. The stars are coming into alignment. No more sleeping in the back of the truck,or trailer, listening to Hoffmans female exploits (although fun for awhile!!!) Now- if I could just sneak out with one of Roy's three pedal set-ups, and a Jerico................ :)

Cool Dale. Any bed is better than no bed. I have seen some Jerico's come up recently for not to bad of a price. You could always go with a toploader? I ran my stock toploader to 11.60's. The Jerico is so nice though. Nothing like a run through the gears! Brian

Dale,Fast Eddie and Brian;we all know where Dale is coming from on the car fund!!That old saying of "how fast you can run depends on how much you are willing to spend",holds true even more today!!!I have that M/T cross ram too,I think it needs to be on the ROCKET,along with that third pedal!!Dale, nice house!! ROY.

  20. I got this Hot Wheel. Was wondering if it is based on a real car or just made up?

Larry;those Hot Wheels are hard to come by out here in So.CA.! I had to get mine from a buddy in Texas!!!! I'm looking for another one that I can take apart and modify to replicate mine!! I think the design may have just come from the imagination of a Hot Wheels designer! It was such a shock to see them do a 65 Comet,I have a small collection of the Hot Wheels drag cars and some other brands of cool 60s & 70s cars! ROY.

Gotta love the cross rams! FYI, Mickey Thompson made two versions of the FE Powerram, the early one with 4 venturi openings under the carb, and a later style with an open plenum area. There were only minor differences elsewhere. A friend ran one on his FE Mustang, and couldn't tune it to run well, so he went with the Edelbrock cross-ram instead, with a pair of 660's. I have it now, as well as the M/T's. Do you have the distributor block adapter and distributor? I got a modified stock distributor with one manifold, and then machined my own from a Mallory marine YL distributor, converted it to Pertronix, and run the low-profile crab cap. Let me know if you have any questions or need photos/dimensions.

I have been told by a wise old drag racer that even though the crossrams have the "wow" factor, that they don't work very well. For looks they are great. For performance they are not.

Roy/Larry,Yes just a designers interpretation. The next color variation is out too. They'll probably do a half a dozen variations to get the bang out of the tooling.
I've started doing some customs of it....:D

  26. Cool, I might try something like that with mine. Maybe paint it like mine, or paint it like I would like to paint mine.

    Roy,
I thought Hot Wheels took the idea from your car..... According to Fast Eddie,

I think Special Ed, was on a bender with his shine, rubbing his junk on a old Cragar, when he came up with that story!

  28. Eric: Way you gotta be like that LOL!!!!!

    Roy:

I'll look at the other Oreilly Stores and see if I can pick up a couple more of the Hot Wheel Comets, I have 3 so far.

Never seen one at my local stores. Those are cool!

Today, a shop neighbor took me over to a property, not far from where my shop is. Low and behold, tucked away in the corner, windshield broken, headlamps broken, etc.., sat a '65 Comet convertible, Caliente, five lug car.

Images of the The Maruaders, Inc. cut-top are still swimming in my head.. Somebody throw me am lifeline......
