Features '32 Winterfront grille $9,400+++?

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by RoadFarmer, Nov 27, 2011.

  1. I've always thought it would be sweet to find one of these for sale one day. But I had no clue what they could be worth. Just saw one listed for sale and it has over six days left and is already at over $9,400!!!! For that much money I'm surprised no body has started to repop them!

    I've been watching the same one. I have a buddy that has a pines winterfront 32 grill and a 33 one too! ...not near as nice as the one on egay but still. Told him yesterday he should put em on the the chopping block and he could probably get a nice complete hot rod between the two of them.

    My brother bought a complete deuce shell with pines winterfront at a threshing bee about 12 years ago for $100 and everybody thought he was nuts. He sold the shell for $400 and the Pines Winterfront for $200 later that year at a swap meet at the end of the meet after several people passed on it....

    Asking and getting are still two different things although there always seems to be someone who needs just that item to finish his car and will pay the price or get real serious at working a deal.

    What a stupid and silly price for something that doesn't make your car any faster. Stock 32 grille shell look just as good as is without the $9400 cold weather accessory.

  7. At first I was thinking it must just be a pissing match between really rich guys, but then I saw that the reserve hadn't been met. Made me wonder what the market really is for these grilles.

  8. I hope they dont get repoped...........

    Some people go gaga for rare accessories, to set their car apart from all the me-too's. I get it, and hey if you can afford the ridiculous price, go for it.

  10. Nothing surprizes me price-wise anymore. Greedy seller plus a stupid buyer equals stupid money.

    Like the B-400, one of the rarest body styles. If I had my choice between a 3w and B-400, it would be the 3w hands down. EVEN if the purist say the B-400 is more rare. Its all what you like, for me I think the original grill and shell is a work of art. The winters grill reminds me of the wide louvers on a 30's chevy hood. .02 spent.

    Getting what the market will bear makes you greedy? Whats the point of selling for less than what someone is willing to pay?

    There is always someone out there who wants what you have and will pay almost anything to get it..

  21. In the Q&A section below guy says he's very close on the reserve, I wouldn't be greedy at those figures.
    That's a pricey vertical blind.

    Gotta remember your on the HAMB and as my grandfather used to say, "Some people would bitch if they were hung with a brand new rope". I swear, some on here just aren't happy unless they post something negative.

    I'm probably a minority, but i never cared for the way they look..

    It is crazy though, i bought 2 steel 32 5 window body's for about what that grill is up to..
    Best of luck to the seller, and buyer. All will be happy when the auction is over. :)
