Thanks man, I right clicked and saved a couple of those. I thought of painting the car gray like my t-bucket and this picture gives me a clue of the out come.
I decided to fix my firewall again, if you guys remember I took a guess at clearence for the distributor to drop in the intake and it was off a little. I didn't allow enough overhead clearence above the cap, I thought 6 inches above it was enough but NO. So I dropped the blown up block and some heads back in and cut it again. This time keeping it real thin at the cowl top and an extra 3/4's inch wider on the sides. The distributor drops in now like greezed owl shit, slick man I tell ya, slick. I've got the patch about half made to cover the new hole and hope to have that welded in by the weekend. Since I had nothing better to do with my time I decided to put the ol mechanical injection on the dummy engine for the photo opt....lol
Hey Phil ! Have you done anything about fixing the engine ? Are you going to go to the rules meeting on the 29th? I hear it is going to be quite interesting .....
Phil's got another thread regarding the engine. As far as the meeting goes.... Yes it will be very interesting! It'll be interesting to hear the double talk on how a 1977 car can run in a racing series that has a 1972 limit.
I don't get it??now the exhuast will blow right into the drivers seat....weird...would have been better to get a mopar or ford with the dizzy in front than to cut the firewall...or move the engine forward to clear the firewall, moving the engine back just adds weight to the rear wheels, then how can you spin them? I'm confused..of cvourse my car is still broke too
Bernie the new engine is done, I was out there week before last and the block was done but empty and no big rush. Tuesday I went to pick up the tunnel ram to make sure it all fit, he said that's a problem. I was like what the heck is going on now, then he said it was bolted on the engine allready. He cut the front and rear China wall and popped it off so I could test fit it. I dropped it back off on Wed. so it's done but I want to dyno the thing before bringing it home. Trying to sell a couple things and saving up some moolaw to get that done, still no big hurry. Oh yeah, trying to get to the meeting but have to see what the rest of the household schedule (kids/girlfriend work) is first.
Man you really got to come by when I'm planning these things out, I would be way ahead in this game !
Thanks man, I can't wait till next year to try it again !.............well without the engine blowing up part lol
Good goin Phill: Glad to see its coming together for you. Know we have this long winter ahead..... Happy T day. see ya Luke
This thread also has posts regarding the engine . There has been nothing new on the other thread ( regarding the engine ) in over a month - thats why I asked him about it on this thread, since this is the one he is currently on . I didn't feel like digging up the other one . That being said , I'll ask Phil whatever I want, whenever, and wherever ! LOL So - who has a 1977 ? The only car I can think of might be one of the Vega's ?
1 is a real 1971.... the other is a '77 with a '71-'73 front. But because his freakin' tail lamps say '71 the talking heads of the GRS say it must be a '71...... DUH! F.Y.I.: GM used the same tail lamps from '71 thru '80. (after the Vega there was the Monza) Sorry for the O/T talk guys, I was just answering the man's question.
Ok talk about your vega in a p.m. not on my Henry J thread please. The other engine thread was about the blown up engine, it's done and over with and still blown up. I have no interest in bringing that one back up to talk about the new engine. The new engine is the same combo as the old except two bolt block, with forged pistons/rods and only 30 over this time around. Luke, Happy Thanksgiving to you too buddy. I think I'm going to break up the winter by putting the Henry J in the Hamburg Cavalcade of Cars the first of March...lol
Hey! I don't have a Vega anymore B.T.W.: As long as you brought it up..... Got any pics of the new bullet Phil?
Sorry we got off track , Phil - didn't mean to start hijacking your thread. Glad to hear your getting another motor together. Hope to see you guys at the meeting ,in the meantime everyone have a great Thanksgiving ! - Bernie
Glad you got the new engine done. Videos are great. Our HJ will not see the strip, but I love your build, .
You don't have to race them to have fun with them, I picked this one up a couple hrs from ya in Belleville.
Well got the patch in and it's a pretty close match to all the older work on the firewall. I was trying to not have it look smooth and out of place. The paint should blend in after a couple months hopefully to match the rest, the flash makes it look way worse than it is.
