As I am almost complete with my ~2 year '63 Biscayne project I am getting down to some nitty gritty stuff....
Yesterday I scrounged up some trim rings and put them on.....Kinda like the looks with them on, but also like the simpler look without them...
So, give me your opinions please....
    Thanks much,
    Bob

Probably have scratches on the rims now, so better leave them on.

With all the black trim on the car I like it without them. They look like they're off a newer Chevy. Nice grille treatment.
One thing I'd change though, remove your handicapped tag from your mirror while driving. Why block your vision when you only need it while parked in handicapped parking spots?

That dresses it up a bit and still stays with the factory super stock look. I like the way you have the car set up. It takes on the appearance of a car that a stock cl*** racer would have ordered special to fit in a certain cl*** back then.

BB I thought those Handicapped tags were hung from the mirrors to warn other drivers to give the car a bit more room. No joke intended but when I see on I usually drive a bit more carefully around the car it's in and give it more room. I couldn't tell if the rings were proper early 60's rings or the later ones.

I would say no to the trim rings,

And yes, it sets off the center caps. To me it has that copo look.

    I do the same thing.
In Missouri anyway, it's illegal to drive with the handicap tag hanging from the mirror, it says so right on it, but apparently some people can't read!

Oh, and my vote is without trim rings.

  13. Well you know me Bob, I'm a trim ring and center caps guy. Keep em on! The car looks goooooood.

Leave them on. It gives the car a more "finished" look.

    Thanks for the replies!
Will ponder on it for a while....
If I decide to go with the trim rings, I will get some narrower period correct ones, hopefully only about 1 1/2" wide. The ones in the picture are just some that I scrounged up to see what it might look like.
    Cheers,
    Bob

Chrome wheels with the caps .......... change over to the painted wheels w/o for a different look.

  25. I usually use trim rings with deep or reversed wheels or a thin contrasting color pinstripe on standard rims.

    Thanks Jeff,
I worked outside on gravel, in snow and then in covered areas with out heat for years.
I am now retired, and when we bought this house I borrowed extra money to fix up the garage into my Man Cave Shop!! All I need now is a bed and bath and I could just stay out there!!!
    Cheers.......

Looks "meaner" without, but I'd leave them on. More traditional.
