Tuck I admire your spirit in light of this tragedy. To me that alone says that you will persevere. At the same time it made me a little ashamed of myself. I had to sell my '51 Ford F1 project last week to deal with family matters and was pissed and probably feeling a little sorry for myself. I am Tucks brother, James. I am absolutly amazed by the tremendous show of support by all of you. I don't really have words to describe it... As the firefighters were putting out the flames, Tuck said.. "This is it... I'm finished". I will never forget the look in his eyes... utter devistation. Your support has reversed all of this and will start a new beginning. I am sure that after this he will come back stronger than ever! We will be building a new shop come spring time. I now concider all of you family! Thank you so much for helping Tuck continue his passion! THANK YOU!!!
Great words Tuck. We believe in you, no question. Although we have never met (yet) I often smile and think of the old days, Zeke's HAMBer chat and the banter that went on there. Damn we had some fun on there, and still do from time to time when I get to log on to the new chat. The world is a small place now and we are all the better for being on here and sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. That is life and we play the hand we're dealt. I never once thought Tuck would be "finished", although I can certainly see how a guy would feel that way staring into the face of things... All a dude like Tuck needs is a little push start and he'll be popping on all 8. Wish I was there to help.
tuck, i knew you were gonna bounce back like this. it's in you. i hope during this process i can do something REAL to help. not just nice words or whatever, but something real. your reaction is inspiring to me, and it rearranges my attitude about people to a certain extent, given the way people have reached out and shown so much generosity and support. it's pretty amazing to see it unfold over the interwebs. there are some real stand up folks on here, and i have been selling the whole human race short for the faults of a few. i've been thinking a lot about legacy lately. you know, the stuff a man leaves behind when he's gone. did he matter at all? i am far from working out how one man can matter much in a world of 7 billion, but the way you've reacted to this, and the way others have stepped up to help gives me more to chew on. it's all very inspiring. and i, from 1500 miles away, have learned valuable lessons from your misfortune. this event is global. and you're already a man with a legacy. i am proud to call you a friend. Tuck that was very eloquent and really moving. This will be a hard one to overcome but in the end will become part of your story and will no doubt bring a bunch of ne opportunities your way. Good to see you rebounding so quickly. Stay focused and stay busy getting at the work in front of you. You will be OK. Tools are on the way.
I can't imagine losing everything to fire, but it's awesome to see the HAMB rally around Tuck to help out. A little Tuck story . . . When I was out of work I went up to see Tuck to buy some Model A Tudor rear fenders. We had agreed on $75 for all 5 of them. I knew they were rough, but I was only going to be using pieces of them anyway. I drove up to Pine City to get them. He took me out to lunch at the local A&W -- insisted that I get a rootbeer float too -- and wouldn't let me buy my own lunch. He then took me out to a couple local shops to see some cars, showed me his shop, showed me his studio and printing biz, gave me a t-shirt and then sold me the fenders for $45 since they were "rougher than he remembered." Super stand up guy!

we were there the map above is correct thanks gee what a mess the clean up is under way tuck was laffin at how somethings have new bizarre shapes and was takin guesses as to what things are by the current condition some one bring a ground magnet as nails and screws are getting scattered all around .. if these get froze in it will be hard to get them picked up next spring and some good outdoor power cords best of luck
Tuck, I'm glad you're ok. Stuff can be replaced. I know that sounds trite, but it's reality. Lives can not be replaced. Think of it a a 're-boot'. r

I'm checking in! We had an awesome day... made a huge dent. I feel tired but its a good tired... I pulled on the long johns and hit it just before 8am... and it was COLD. First guy on the scene was Lucky74- Ruler. It was fun swapping stories and trying to figure out how to attack this mess. My Uncle (adopted dad) Larry Grems showed up not long after... along came Doc and Havi... and Paperdog and his wife- I rented a generator and the guy dropped off the dumpsters and we kinda hit it.... started in one corner and worked our way in. Its pretty overwhelming but we made a really HUGE dent in the mess today. Then we ate some Pizza... and told awesome stories. My buddy Adam Brinker stopped over with his Russian Belarus and smashed the tin down into the dumpster so we can really fill it up. I'm just gonna post some pics- then I need to thaw out. It was like 8 degrees or something today... my toes are still frozen. It got so hot that this pic (below) kinda puts it all into perspective. Its a drive shaft... it was a brand new drive shaft that was in the metal shop. The Fire Marshall said from the signs of melted metals it was up to and over 2000 degrees in there.... SO thats what 2000 degrees does to a drive shaft- and thats not the only exploded driveshaft we found. There were others. Its pretty crazy- pics will speak for themselves. So big day tomorrow. Thanks for all the help- this is going really good! I'll be out there before or at 8am again tomorrow. Looking forward to putting in another hard day- Tuck
And yet the Hemi still looks like it could be rebuilt and run! Glad to see progress Tuck! We're all thinking of you man! Wishing you the best!
I think that hemi is in trouble- it doesnt sound good when you try and turn it... like I think the pistons may have got soft. Seriously... I was being really optimistic but I wont know till the heads are off. It only turns maybe 1 inch back and forth and sound like dry metal scraping. as long as that block checks out- it can be rebuilt... ;-) That cab looks good from a ways away- but up close and if you see the doors and back are really wavy. Totally saveable... no doubt. skin the doors, make a new panel for the back below the belt line... cut out the roof and put a wood roof back in it- and you're in business.
