With everything going on I have not been able to post as often so I am going to share one of my sources so that others might be able to pick up the ball and run with it. I really enjoy this thread and want it to keep going. But I need to work on my shed and rebuild my steering wheel molds so I need to spend less time searching for interesting images.

If you click the link below get ready to loose a lot of sleep.

  4. In September 1978 my best friend in high school and college bought a Superbird (I bought a '40 Plymouth coupe)...I guess the fact that both of us where in the 240lb range was the reason we were able to tweak his wing once!

On the Super Bird/Daytona: I remember reading in '73 or so that NASCAR still required companies to build at least 500 of an edition for a model to qualify as true stock;) and, thus, eligible for NASCAR comp.

According to the same article, the NASCAR varsion included the capability for pit crews to adjust the wing to increase/decrease the down force. The item added that crews found that it worked so effectively that too much downforce and the car actually slowed perceptibly and the tire wear increased significantly:eek:. (You KNOW what too far UP would do, eh?)
