Hot Rods Curbspeed Coupe. "Holy Hell" 10/4/2020

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by curbspeed, Dec 19, 2010.

  1. I'm workin' on him. I think he wants to see me get things squared around a little further before he commits to anything. He is a busy guy. I guess if the car was in Bakersfield it might be a little more feasible. Probably just end up doing it myself with the help of another friend here in Tucson. Thanks for the compliment.

Sweet lookin' knee, but not a nice as that chassis. Chrome front end, quickie...oh baby.

If you end up doing the chop yourself, don't worry, you can handle it. They are really pretty simple, unless you go so much that you have to modify the lower windshield/cowl area like Kiwi Kev did. That kind of chop is an ass load of work.

    Nice work, -Abone.

  5. Well Abone! I guess I'm in for an assload of work then. Gotta copy the chop on the 7-11. It just screams hotrod to me. Your car is looking righteous man. Heading to the shop right now to work on that backend some more.

  6. Come on Dave, What you have done to that lil' car is nothing short of amazing. I have been watching it from the start and have admired it. I would love to build a Vicky oneday. Once I could have bought 1 1/2 bodies but did not have the scratch. Price was not that bad but I had no funds. Someday. The one plowboy built really blows hot air up my panties.

Yes we totally loved the flipped horns, I dont like the tanks hanging off the back and flipping the horns lets you see the quickchange more.

  8. Worked on the car a little bit this weekend. Been busy the last couple of months doing honey-do's around the place. Gotta keep my wife happy.
Worked on the decklid fitment and lower panels under decklid. Mounted my 37 Ford decklid handle on the SAR decklid with 152 louvers. License plate will mount on spreader bar under the decklid handle. Chrome T pushbar will help fill out this area.
Mounted my taillights just because I wanted to see what they were going to look like on the car. They are 41 Willys units. I love them. They look so bitchin lit up at night. Never seen them on any other hotrod which kinda turns me on.
Patched wheelwell are on passenger side. Need to do the drivers next then I can get the new subrails in the back made and begin to think about mouting the body down for a mockup fit. I have really been lollygagging on this thing and need to pick up the pace. I have been doing a lot of small stuff that doesn't need to be mentioned.
Got my new quarter panels for both sides from Donnie Smart. Quality stuff for sure. I highly recommend his products. They look perfect. I'll wait to fit those when I have the body mounted solid to the frame. Here are a few photo's of the today. Nothing earthshaking but it was something anyways.

Why yes I would. That would be fun and it's getting cold. Give me a call.

  13. Well it ain't much warmer here right now for sure. Suppose to get down to freezing tonight. Pm me your number so I know I have the right one. That would be great if you could come down. No one else from the NW has come to visit me yet since I have been here. What's that say about me?

The Willys tail lights are awesome. Its so nice seeing updates on your coupe.

  15. Looks great! Sell me your old quarters when they're off would'ja?

  16. Thanks, Your welcome to drive that lil' 5 winder of your down to Tucson and visit anytime. Been wanting to meet you since you moved here.

  17. You would not want them. I am just replacing the crappy repairs from the past owners. I do have some generic 1/4 patches that I will not be using that you are welcome to purchase at a very reasonable price. They are not tall enough for me to repair my mess. I needed bigger ones. Donnie Smart's 1/4 patches are 20'' tall. I wont need all of that but I will use about 12" of them.

  18. PM on the way.

  19. Looks good Dale. I have always thought a Willy's tailight would look bitchin on a 33-34 Ford...the Ford's pan is laid back enough I bet the flat spot on the tailight will be about perfect!!

  20. Looking good Dale, maybe that will be driving when I get the nerve to drive my 35 that far. LOL

  22. Ya, I go in spurts just like something else I do once in a while. But I do finish it.
Chris, The taillights look better in person than in the pics. I kinda lost the detail of the glass in those two pics. Maybe I'll take another one tomorrow of them a little closer. I am happy with the placement. I did not want to line them up with the louvers. It looked weird under either one of the outside rows. When the plate and pushbar get lined up it will look downtown. Let me know how your roadster shipping is going. Dale

  23. Here is a couple of close up pics of the Willys taillight. The rubber mounting pad puts the housing at a good angle. These glass lenses really light up nicely .

    I like the Willys lights..Cool!! I used 58 Impala in mine..anything but 50 Pontiacs..tired of seeing them.

  25. Marcus your car has turned out really nice. You have put a lot of work into that baby since you first started. I need to get more done but I'm doing most of the work myself and I'm slow. I'll get it done though. Thanks for the kind words everyone. It means alot and helps on the motivation department.

Hey Dale, been lurking your build for some time. I think your doing great and making progress considering your surgery and all. Keep up the good work, as you know these builds done right take patience and time!

I also dig those Willys lights, refreshing to see unique ideas!!!
