Just got my Falcon home today that I bought off of craigslist in Nor. Cal. Got a great deal because this was the second time he listed it and nobody else wanted it. Dickered him down from $875 to $600. He's probably still smiling. Okay it's a 4 door but as my wife reminded me "we are old and our friends are old" so we need a 4 door.

Was told by the owner he and some friends had it running a couple of years ago. The oil looks good. Tomorrow I have a free day so I'll put a battery in it and see if it will fire. I'll have to go through the brakes after that.

All for now if anybody is interested.

Falcans are great, Dad had one, light blue one. But that 170 c.i. has as much power as my VW bus, even with a new engine. The VW that is.

I love it, Falcons are great, and the wife is probably right about the 4-door thing, but a little suspension work may be in order before you load 4 adults in it for a Sunday afternoon drive. Glass appears to be good as well, and for $600, I think you did well.

I find it humorous that you said you had a free day tomorrow, when you, like me, are retired. I have the same problem, I'm way busier retired than I was when working. Good Luck on the Falcon

It has overload coils in back. Makes it sit right.

Nice score!!! I've got a '62 Falcon, and they're cheep Hot Roddin' fun. A lot of the Mustang parts are interchangeable, like the 22 gallon fuel tank. With a "Shelby drop up front, and some lowering blocks in the rear, It'll come right down.

Good info keep it coming. I was a little worried about the gas tank while following it being towed.

RockAuto sells a new tank pretty reasonable. that's a good buy if i ever seen one.... i'll be (hopefully) bringing a '61 tudor home tomorrow that i've been paying for since September.... to join the '62 i already have. if you're going to consistently carry four adults around, i'd keep any modification to the suspension to a minimum or you'll end up needing to cut up the floor in the back for driveshaft room.

There is a 22 gallon gas tank that fits in an early Falcon?

What year Mustang is that from, and will it fit in a 63 Falcon convertible?

Need trunk mods to make it fit?

    Thanks

Made a little progress today. Took wheels and brake drums off. Three lugs had to be heated before they would budge. Good news, brake lining looks good. Ordered all new hydraulics and flex hoses. Gas tank looks questionable so I ordered a new one off ebay. Might have said before the oil looks good and the seller said it ran a couple of years ago. So as soon as the new tank comes I hope to start it after changing all fluids. In the mean time I'll reverse flush the engine and radiator which looks pretty bad but good enough to run it a little.

Oh yeah Got Louvers is sending me a generator for the price of shipping. Thanks Chip.

Oh yeah the first bodywork I plan to do is the ran gutters. Rusty but not through. I'll clean out all the old seam sealer, wire-wheel it good brush on rust kill acid then paint with Pour 15 before reapplying new seam sealer per the hamb thread about masking it good first.

1970 Mustang or Cougar. Dimensions are same they're just taller and you may have modify the inlet to get the fill hose to line up without kinking it. (Not sure if there's a difference between sedan and convertible though).

I got a 62 Falcon as my daily driver it has never let me down. They are great car and good on gas. Another great thing about falcons they are easy to work with and easy to find parts.

I care Rebel, nice lookin' "Bird" :D

Falcons really are super little cars...and great looking! There are one of the few production cars that look great from any angle regardless of the year 1960 to 65. I think they just got the proportions perfect and wouldn't chance the lines at all.

Seeing this post makes me miss my '65 and long to get back on the project.

    It's current state:

Had it for 10 years last month and got stalled on it because of the Model T.

Will be getting back on it next year full force :D ...want my Falcon back!

hopefully i can post some pics of my "new" '61 Falcon Christmas present (thanks, dear!)
the extensive surface rust makes it look a LOT worse than it really is. i had it cranked up and running this morning, apparently first time in several years.... the brakes are firm and don't leak down.... the dreaded cowl rust is very slight and NOT on the passenger side where it does the worst damage.

Thanks guys. I was afraid I l was the only one. I actually saw a '63 four door in Lowerlake (A small town here) painted pastel pink. I stopped to look and a young woman walked up and got in. She probably thought I was a masher. Cute little cars. Cute woman. Okay I am a masher.
