Real as real gets. Kit car.

  2. I don't give a***** what you call it! This car is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Who the f#*K cares if it is "real" or not. The guy that built this car has superb taste and the fact that he has a few extra shekels to do it soooooooooo right makes him a-okay in my book.************************* I concur!

It is definitely well done and I don't want to take away from that. However, to me it's a "kit car" although a VERY VERY nice one.

The "Geronimo" is about as close to a real Duesenberg hot rod as you will find although only the engine and a few pieces are Duesenberg.

I did not have my magnet with me and it looked authentic enough to me - considering I saw quite a few at the ACD Festival and in the ACD Museum over the Labor Day Weekend. Last Spring Del Mar there was a gentleman with a 1934 Packard V12 Cabriolet which he had tastefully resto rodded with a 502 BBC - and that was the real deal. Bottom line is: thanks for setting the record straight and I'll now put away the Kleenex....;)

I will show you a *REAL* Deusenberg Hot Rod from the late 1948-49 era........I used to be quite friendly with a gentleman named John Chambard who raced a "Lakes Modified" Deusenberg in the MOJAVE Timing****ociation......he was a member of the RoaDusters and I urge you to take a look at the following documents from the California Timing News of the time........you will also see pictures of the Deusie on El Mirage........

Sorry, I dont post off-topic stuff, and I dont engage in infantile******** matches on board. If you feel the need to continue this, do it in the form of a PM. Oh, and pretty much everybody on here knows I own sixties cars, glad to see you are at least literate enough to read my public profile.

It looks great and I bet it is a blast to drive. But, if it has a fiberglass replica body of any type, make or model and sits on an aftermarket frame with modern running gear it is a KIT CAR. Don't pretend that it is real.

I've got to go through some old SCCA newsletters, this roadster is a former SCCA race car I believe. I'll post photos once I find them. If it is the same car I'm glad another early sports car is still with us. :)

I think this Duesenberg is more than a kit. The builder executed their own plan with a traditionl flavor. It is no more a kit car than this aftermarket '57 Chevy Convertible steel body by Cars, Inc, which is mounted on an aftermarket Morrison chassis.

  24. It is not a kit car. It is a Duesenberg II. It is a manufactured car with a 17 digit VIN. Expensive when new (80s, I think), pretty rare now and sell for quite a bit when they come up. Doesn't really belong on this board. It's just a car that was factory built and bought by a rich guy

Who the f**K cares? It is one fine automobile, regardless of what terminology you wish to apply to it. So the fu*k what? It's a very nice car..."kit" or otherwise. Get over it, boys, and either enjoy the pics or move on to something else.

I agree that a Duesenberg II should be called a replica and not a kit car.

If it's the builder that is trying to pass off the barn find story then that's the real issue.

Lordy, that is some cool "duse" builds. Geronimo is awesome as is the real racer shown at Pebble Beach. All are outstanding, fiberglass included. Take a look and listen to a you-tube video by Hoyt Axton****led Geronimo's Caddilac. Yes, the goverment gave Geronimo a new Caddilac as part of the going to the reservation deal, they couldn't get gas for it and pulled it around with horses. Another sad saga in our mistreatment of our native American family. ~sololobo~

Kit car shmit car, steel will peel, all***** is real .
DONT LIKE IT, DONT LOOK !
Give the guy credit for the work he has done.

I've seen plenty of steel cars that owners brag about and one pass around I find three or four really stupid mistakes. Not everyone is perfect and thank GOD for that !

Fiberglass or not it is a beautiful car and I would love to own it, as it is as close to a "Dual Cowl Phaeton Duesenberg" as I will ever get in my life time.

At 5 MPH who knows the difference, and by todays standards WHO CARES !

The official DMV requirement states - "The identification and body contours must bear the same characteristics of a specific make and model of motor vehicle to be considered its replacement."

Every body loves FIBERGLASS Corvettes right !
How many of those get damaged yearly but we all want one in our garage.

Lighten up guys, life is too short.

My issues is the phoney baloney barn find story. It is very nicely done for sure but there is no comparison to the real thing. If you don't know the difference then we are from different planets.

Btw, if we are talking Duesenberg II's then here is one that I think is superior to the topic of this thread. The builders refer to it as "second gen" but I still prefer replica : www.1933twentygrand.com
