Wow this just keeps getting better !I got time off between Christmas and Newyears ...I was gonna get the skirts made but this grille is looking so cool I am definately going to get this done first,I cant wait to get started on this!!

  7. I just checked with the former owner of my 35. He also has a `46-47 Merc convert and a couple rooms full of parts. Asked if he has a pair of those ribbed headlight rings. He said he'll look. Keep your fingers crossed. His car doesn't have them so, can we narrow down what they come on?

I saw some on a 47 Monarch ,I just figured Mercs had them as well. I think they are also on the 46-7 Ford/Merc trucks. That would be really cool ,I really think the art deco kinda style will go well with the grill.

Well if thats what it takes to get you going again then I think I done somthin good. We've been waiting too long!:D Thanks Steve and everyone else for the props, this was a real fun one to do. By the way I tried to resize the ribbed headlight rims to fit and they ended up looking like the ones on the car now. Oh well...:)

I didnt think they would show up well, just cause of how small they are thanks anyways for trying !...so I guess they were for trucks only?

  15. I guess that gives me another reason to go back to see a farmer I talked to years ago about one of those sitting in some bushes near my place. Mean while I'll keep my eyes open. Next swap meet is February.

By the way Steve, have you given any thought to a color for the car? Maybe I can throw something on there. Eli

Thanks Dave! I wasnt sure what it might look like but thanks to OahuEli's renderings I know its gonna look really cool! Jesse's car would have been a darker green correct? Do you know if it had any metallic in it? I dont believe I have ever seen a color pic of it.

  19. Rik did a colorized version Jesse's car in TRJ #33 and listed it there as Deep metallic forest green.

Check this green out Steve.i sprayed this green metallic on my firewall early on in the build, but decided to go with dark blue.Would look cool on your ride.I haven't seen it used to much.Whatever you go with i'm sure it will look good. The main part of the build(slicing) is right on,the paint is just icing on top.:D

I'm not big on green myself, but find this candy colour attractive. I think that's close to the previous poster's intent.

Im not a huge green fan either...but on the right car I think it can be really cool ,especially a custom as you mentioned Dave ,you dont see it done much on a traditional custom.
