It all started when Ken Smith, who recently striped the dash in my '59, called me up and asked if I wanted to ride shotgun to Austin with him and a couple of others to take in the Hot Rod Revolution. After asking for and receiving a one day pass from the new wife, I was good to go. We all met up at Ken's house in Ft. Worth and, after a short "meet & greet" over coffee & Dr Pepper, loaded up in Ken's late model and pointed it south. The posse included Ken, "Sewer Rat' Joe, Mike Harbour of EZ Cool Insulation and myself. Joe's comment was, "Yep, the air's pretty thin at four in the morning."
After a brief stop in Belton for a swap meet, we made it to Austin and the Hot Rod Revolution. Here's where I'll let the pictures take over and explain the rest. You know the old adage, "A picture's worth a thousand words . . . . . . . . "

They're in no particular order. Just shown in the order that I took 'em.

Great job on the pics Larry. It was cool having Ken drive us around in his big ole Hippy Van and do the Valet Parking thing for us at the swap meet.
I thought I'd throw in a couple of pics.
Great story behind the Show Winner Roy Drapal and his car. The way I understand it he built this car in the late 40's, early 50's out on a farm with no electricity. It has been sitting for many years and his son had been working on him lately trying to get him to get it out, dust it off and take it to a car show or two. He kept saying ' nobody wants to see that ole thing' and now here it is at its first show in decades, Revolution Best of Show Winner!

super gathering of some very cool Hot Rods............

someday i gotta make it there

  27. Looks like quite a few cool hot rods showed up!

I like that there's more car owners there than spectators... unlike most shows.

Sid,...that's the coolest thing I've seen done in decades! I bet your dad had a blast!!

I'm assuming most of you know Nostalgia Sid, I think there's a bit about his dad's car on his website.
