I've gotten after the Twin again fixing some problems we encountered in October and started on the Dragster body. The 1st thing I needed to address was the sloppy KingPins, I had made the pin bosses alittle too big so I purchased a Moog set that measured +.010 or .822 and reamed the bosses. Then I replaced the bushings and reamed them, I'm fortunate to have my Fathers Reamer set, them cut the busings down to fit my lightened 48 F-1 spindles (machined to Pass Car specs) and now hopefully the high speed wobble is gone.

Now it's time to get after the Dragster Body, the "T" body will come later.

First I made a "roller/bender" for the belly pan using the same dia material of the frame. The bender is 35" long and consists of the tube, angle iron to hold the sheet, and a handle. I'm bending .035 and the bender won't bend much more than the 35" length without help. Here's a photo of the bender and a second one will be made for the cowl using a larger tube. Once the bender was made I took a piece of scrap, measured to a point and marked it, then positioning the bender on the mark I bent it 90* to see how much I would lose in a bend. With the 1 3/4 I lost 1 1/8" so with that in mind I bent up the belly pan and started trimming around the bellhousings.

My camera died and I'll post some pic's tommorow of the belly pan and the remainder of the project.

Cool bender Rocky, I love how you just make the tools you need and just get on with it. You should post pictures of your tools in the "home made tools and equipment..." thread for those of us who build that kind of stuff. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=235784
Keep at it, I'm still looking forward to the T on the back end of the "Evil Twin".

Thanks Guys! Today I had to get after it and get the body somewhat done, I mean I have some cool aircraft fasteners and the windscreen isn't perfect and I need to redo the back but it has the early vibe I was shooting for.
Starting where I left off was the belly pan, I trimmed and fit and trimmed and fit some more to deal with the bellhousings then riveted it (told you I was in hurry mode:D)to the frame.

Next I made a cardboard pattern for the back and cut the piece out. This piece of Aluminum is thinner and a harder material that I'll have to relace as I want to roll the edges.

Now back to my benders, this one is made from 3" pipe and gave me the radius I wanted. The body is a simple and like I think they would of been in the early 60's before the Great Hanna style bodies.

I'm fast forwarding to the semi finished look with some improvements and fit and finish to be done when I take it all apart.

I'm shooting a video this weekend for a contest and I'll post that next week, wish me luck!

Yep Tom and she come's in @ 173o less driver and body, a tad heavy but man is it fun to drive thru the smoke!:D
Rich, I'll do some drawings and try to describe better soon. Rocky

We'll we ran the Twin pretty hard last weekend @ Eagle Field during our Christmas Party with lee and I making 3 hard runs, letting volunteers do burnouts and she still runs;) On my run I had Lee use a RaDar gun and leaving in 2nd, smoking the Tires and shifting to 3rd about 300' she ran 103 MPH in the 8th. Not any kind of record but the stock 350 and 307 have done me right and now it's time to build a couple of "Stronger" 350's. The reason for the push to get it ready for last weekend was the Champion sweepstakes contest that require a video....... so I gave my best "Acting" attempt:eek: and will post the video as soon as we submit it.

Yeah Rocky!!! That is bad ass.!!! Havent really been on here alot latey. So I didnt see this till now. Very cool my tire smokin brother!!!

Dont worry about the people that dont "get it". It amazes me that people will attend a event like the HAMB Drags or your Eagle Field deal. And have no idea that dragsters use to smoke the tires ON PURPOSE. Ha,

Keep at it . Looks great!!!!

You need to start a separate thread with the link to the video so you get a bunch of hits and bumped up the ladder faster.
