This picture was taken in the mid 70's, I would love to know what he was asking for this gasser. I would guess 2500.00 thats hundreds not thousands........... I am still waiting on that time machine!

  11. Dave,
Everybody likes a little trivia, so here is some for us Willys people. The coupe, pickup and sedan that you have pictured above belong to the two people most responsible for the Willys get togethers at all the Street rod Nationals, going back into the early 80's. Back then Willys at car shows were rare, and they are the ones who started the resurgence in in the Willys cars. There names are Fred and Connie Kinnary from Illinois. It was from there that Barb and Greg Dummer took over and put together the Willys drag events at Denver in "94, and St Louis in '99. When the McIntyres took over, they started all the gasser reunions that initially followed. Sandwiched inbetween were those Gasser Battles that took place at Indy in the 90's between SWC & K. S. look-a-likes, that got K.S. Pittman to come back and drive the replica car. Since then we all know what has happened...glass cars galore, and high, high dollars for steel bodied cars.
It's great, but those of us that were into them as early as the '60's had no idea it would get so popular. Even back then they were not so easy to find (but they were a lot cheaper). So thanks Fred and Connie for re-igniting the fire. I for one would not have believed that there would be so many survivors...bought my first one in 1960, but wish I had bought more of the ones I passed over since the 70's, and thankful that I bought the few that I did!!!

P.S. I would certainly be remiss if I didn't give credit also, to Ron Ladley for the original club, and to John Butone who tried to continue it, and also to Kiwi Kev, for igniting the fire on the west coast with his West Coast Willys Club...trivia 101.

  16. Don't know if I posted these before, I don't think so, but I am not going to search through 50 pages and look. If they have been posted before, moderators please delete.
These all belong to a friend here in Northern CA, they are all steel, and he has some more that I couldn't get photos of....

Hi, i don't know much about this cars past, maybe someone here does. I bought it from a guy in Bucks County Pa. The past two owners just stored it away, six or seven years. Titled when new in Alabama, it has a chevy 12 bolt rear, GM motor mounts crudely welded to the frame and a aftermarket tube axle. I don't think anyone raced it like this. It looks like they started to put it together and just stopped and then let it sit.
For now i am busy stripping it, and having the metal replaced and repaired. I did want to just put a drivetrain in and drive it, when i got it :Dbut that would have been alot of work just to do over, when the time came. Thanks,Walt

I have been trying to locate our 40 Willys Race car,Carroll and Taylor that we won C/G at the 66 Indy Nationals. I don't want to buy it I just would like to know where it is. I sold it in 68 in Fort Lauderdale to a guy named Bud Dowling. He kept it for a couple of years down here while painting it dark Blue and some chassis work.He then took it to Upstate New York when he moved there. I ran into Bud several years ago but didn't have a name of who bought it. It was a steel car with a glass 40 front end. Not much description but had quarter elliptic rear springs with ladder bars and a 60 Olds rear.I would appreciate any info. Bill Carroll

Thanks Dave for posting the pictures. I don't think that I would be ready to buy it as I'm beyond any projects. It would be neat to see it restored but I don't want to be the one to do it.

Does anyone have pics of quarter elliptical springs? Was that "the" suspension for those cars?
