My wife and I decided to take a mini-vacation and flew out from Northern CA to support the show. We came in on Friday and checked in at the Austin Motel. What a great place to stay. Not only was the location perfect, but the room and staff were awesome. S. Congress Ave. is a neat place to just walk up and down. We bought a couple of new hats from a real nice guy who use to live in our neck of the woods. I scored a cool old hot rod toy at one of the antique stores for whopping $7.24 and we were introduced to breakfast tacos. Nice! As for the show, a lot can be said for the cars and location, but what I really liked were the little touches that went into it. The "ration" style registration decals were a VERY cool idea, as were the souvenir dog tags. I also thought having the military vehicle club and their living history group present was awesome. To me, the HRR just has a different vibe then most shows. I felt it back in Penngrove when it started and it feels the same 5 years later in Austin. I don't know how to explain it other than it is just "comfortable". Almost like a family gathering....with family you like. Anyway, on to the photos!!
Thanks for posting, That blk 32 three window is just plain Nasty, I have some new screen savers for a while..Good shots...Can`t wait till next year.
You just made my morning with those comments about our show. The Hot Rod Revolution is really important to me. I don't know why, it just is... And when I hear folks appreciate it like that, it just makes me smile. Thanks for that man.
The Revolution Ration window sticker would be as cool as LA Roadster mug (mine collects dust)... a bucket list item for this Ohio boy!
Danny Grahams 55. He had one identical to it in high school. He is now in his sixties. Watch for it at the HAMB drags.
