I dig Ed Roth, but I'm no expert on him or his stuff. What exactly is this (aside from the obvious derived from the pics). Where were these sold? When? I can't seem to find any info on this thing. It's way cool and the sculpture is definitely bronze. The sculptor is Larry Braun. The book is signed and numbered by Braun, Ed Roth and Tony Thacker. Edition of only 50. Thanks!
I have my ways. It has to be ultra rare. I see a lot of cool hot rod shit and I have never seen another one.
It appears that Larry Braun is still creating automotive sculptures. Way out of my price range though. http://www.garryhill.com/sculpture.asp Is a link to a gallery displaying his work. http://www.carart.us/products.aspx?x=2&f=artistID&v=54&t=i&ttl=artistName&tmp=2&menu=C1581 Sending you a pm.
It's quite similar to what is shown as some of his other small sculptures too. For the Ala Kart fans http://www.garryhill.com/sculpt.asp?id=lb7
That is a really neat find. Wish it was mine, lol. Some of you need to read the first post so you know what the question is about.
I've never seen the book in hardcover before. Is anything dated? I'm guessing a limited edition piece to celebrate the release of the book. 1995?
Not to be "Captain Obvious" here ... but perhaps the sculpture was something that Larivee and/or Motorbooks International commissioned Braun to do ... to commemorate the original (1995) release of Roth & Thacker's "Hot Rods by Ed Big Daddy Roth" book in paperback ... and then they decided it would be profitable to sell 50 copies of the sculpture & hardcover book (on a hardwood mount) as a "Limited Edition" item that only a "Gold Chainer" (like Atwater Mike ) could afford!
