  2. I'll squeak in with my 65 Cyclone. Mom's grocery getter and our family car since back in the day. I'll post 4 pics. One from 1966, one 1986, 2006, and 2011. The skirts have always been on the car. My brother, sister and I learned to drive in the old girl....

Nice Merc coverage BB! That's looks like a 56 Chevy front bumper on the Hitohata inspired Merc.

What kind of tail lights was the Hirohata inspired runnin?

  7. In other pics threads it appeared to have Lincoln taillights just like the Hirohata.

    53/54 Lincoln tail lights.

  9. When I got home I compared the car to the REAL Hirohata, and noticed the differences. Bumpers being the obvious one. He wasn't trying to "clone" the Hirohata,he told me. He was just inspired by it. Really nice guy to talk to,also.
Oh yea...he said it won't be painted the same color either.

  10. I'de SO roll that patina'ed 49 that it's not even funny! Very cool! Any info on it?

Call me crazy but I really like that he did so many of the Hirohata tricks but also made it different here and there. I'd like to see it in color.

  12. I've seen two Hirohata clones and this one is better than the other two. Even with the different bumpers.

  13. I met the owner at VIVA last year. I guess he has a few Mercs. Don't remember the stats...sorry.

  14. Maybe....except the Pharoh's Merc was a '51.

  15. I like the way those Shoebox taillights look on there Miguel....

Bob, I'm in--add me to the Hamb Merc Club. This is a car I've had for about 2 years. Plans are to complete the mechanicals and have it on the road this summer. The car is kind of a mild 60's custom that has'nt been on the road since the 70's. I think I'll just drive it for a while as is--I like the patina of old cars whith slight rust--maybe change wheels and add ww's-skirts in trunk. And put me in for some t-shirts for the Merc Club if you get a design hammered out.
