Hello all, Here are a few more recent shots from back in the spring of my Plymouth. I haven't worked on it since then. Took a long vacation and many chores to finish over the summer. Now that fall has set in I hope to get back at it.
nice. tried for years to buy one of these in south memphis. old 60's rod the guys brother had driven out from cali then parked behind his shop and left. last I saw it he had still had the guard dog chained to it.
Thanks for the comments. I'm recreating a childhood dream car. I'm doing a mix of 60's gasser and late 60's hot rod.
Here's a few shots of the header project. These headers are for a big block Chevy and I'm converting them to fit the 392. So far so good.
Definitely not easy. It was everything I could do to start hacking these things up but I've been tossing this concept around in my mind forever. Its amazing how close the tube locations are between the old Hemi and BB Chevy. There are a few companies that make Hemi Hot Rod headers but not in Stainless and I wanted a different look. I'm using mild steel bends to make the transition pieces and once I get it right I will remake them in stainless and weld it all together.
I would like to see a picture of your car. Can you post please I really love the old Mopars. They're few and far between.
I have a couple in my photo album in my profile, old ones but i still havent really got it rolling yet the basics are gunna be 331 hemi, b+m hydro, olds rear, round tube frame I have 3 other cars inline first As for the chop on mine, it was an old hammer welded and leaded job done 1,000,000 years ago. If anyone has an old picture of one of these mopars back in the 50's or 60's i'm interested, cuz i'd love to find history on mine
It was in really bad shape. Mine friends all laughed at me when I brought it home and showed it to them. I'm really glad I was able to save it. I'm shooting for the late 60's early 70's look.
I wanted the floor and sheet metal to look original. The right rear corner of the floor had rusted away completely. This old body was recovered from a creek about 40 years ago.
Cool project.....your car sure looks like a PA not a 30U, but I've never seen a PA with a rumble seat either. I have a PA and a buddy has a 30U, there are quite a few differences. Either way have fun with it!
serial # on this one is in sequence with the U production. very few made. I also had a 31-32 PA. One had a rumble seat and the other did not.
I'd say that's a model U to me, after i believe april? 1930 they changed to the oval rear window but it was still a model U, I believe the PA didnt come out till 1931 but i might be wrong. One of those deals where i read up on stuff years ago and forgot it
Hey great job saving your Plymouth. I have a 1931 Coupe and my brother has a 1930 Coupe. Both of ours have the oval rear window. I will find pictures of ours and post them. We have not done a lot on ours yet. My Brothers is chopped. I see that you are running parallel front springs, are you running a original frame? I'm planning on running the 31 frame but put quarter ellipical springs out front. I have a 354 Hemi that i want to build for it. What trans are you running? Good luck with your car I will be following your thread build. Thanks for posting!
Great save!!! I love all brands 30's coupes. How about some more shots of your frame and rear suspension?
Yes original frame with a Ford truck I beam. I will post some pictures. Also a 1968 over the counter cast iron T-10 4-speed.
