That 3/4 rear view of the chop makes me weak in the knees. Outstanding.

All i used was a 3" pneumatic angle grinder with 50 grit discs..NOTE- the discs were used so not super course, and i did nothing more than quickly move the wheel across the surface. NO heat build up or heavy gouging of the tin..
Being i blasted it, all i really did was remove the raw surface the sand left.

    And thanks! I can't wait either! :D

As for learning, thats what i'm doing! hahaha

Thanks JJ! Got the cross member today too. VERY nice man!!! It's going to work out perfect!

Bonesy, thanks man! That my favorite view..when i'm done working i'll sit there and stare at it while enjoying a cold one...haha

    Drivers door is done..
Passenger side has become a pita. I'd say the most messed up part of the car thus far.
I only tacked the patch panel on the pass side cause i knew there was some tin knocking ahead to make it fit..but didn't spend enough time to figure exactly what needed to be done.
Well, figured that out now. The original skin is warped pretty bad from what i can tell to be a previous blasting attempt. So got a little work ahead before thats done.

Also took a pic of the inside lower portion of the door repair i said i'd take and get on here. Nothing special really, just basic rot repair....or i should say missing metal repair. :)

I can't wait to get the hood and grill on it now! haha

    Tony,

Thanks a lot for looking for aluminum!! i still think that'll be cool if we can make it happen.

I've been busy trying to get x-mas stuff taken care of so havn't spent much time on it the last few days. Hopefully i'll get back to it real soon though.

Thanks a lot guys. much appreciated!

Hope to have some updates soon. I'm dying to get it primed and move on to the chassis..Probably after the holiday.

Here's my "new" front wheels for it. original 15x6 magnesium Americans. They match the mag 15x10s i have for the rear. Now i gots me a full set! :)

    Thanks Geoff.
Not working on it is killing me! Spending time and money x-mas shopping vs putting it into the coupe stinks! But, i suppose it's good to do non car related thing's too....or so i'm told.

Hopefully some good updates after the x-mas.

I wish someone would invent a bare-metal paint that looks like your coupe body does...:)

Absence makes that hart grow fonder my man! Sent the rotating assembly out for balancing on Tuesday, I should have it back next week! I'm thinking of running duals into an X into Magnaflows with probably 2 inch tail pipes and the echo cannons. I think it will sound good. Your coupe is bad to the bone bro, How about we trade!! ;)

Larry, me too! My last coupe was glass, so covering this one makes me sad! hahaha
But, it'll be sealed up and painted.

Geoff, very cool man! Regardless of what you do for exhaust, that thing is going to be KILLER with a hopped up mill! I can't wait to hear it in person someday!
As for a trade, tempting :D...but, i almost let this one go once, it won't happen again! lol
Incidentally, i helped ( well, more like just gave moral support 'cause he had it under control) a buddy chop his 53 chevy this past weekend..made me miss mine..and also had me thinking of doing another! haha
He has a build thread here on his..SICK car!!

Ok, taking off from x-mas shopping tonight...going to work on my coupe.

Bob, VERY nice car and great chop! I normally don't like angled A pillars on 5 windows, but that looks excellent!

Well, hated to do it, but i shot the etch primer on the body. It's just too damp here to leave it any longer..now it looks ugly as hell, but it's sealed and protected from rust.

Come on young man - slow down, relax, enjoy life a little, smell the roses.... at least that will make the rest of us feel better about our progress on our own projects.

Nice car, great motor choice, thatll be fun.

You dig it 'cause i stole your color! hahaha..And NO problem man, like i said it was a pleasure and you certainly didn't derail anything. It's been off the track for a long time! :D

I still have a few small thing's i need to attend to on the body but nothing more than a few hours. Then it's on to the chassis.
As that sits, it's nothing more than a stock frame that's been Z'd so i have a bunch of work ahead of me but i think it'll go pretty smooth.

Thanks! See, my problem is enjoying life is building cars..not smelling roses :) :)

    Thanks guy's!

The main body's done and ready for body work.....later.
I started on the deck lid today. Figured that's basically the only thing left on the body itself that really "needs" anything.
Split the skin from the structure first. I need to rebuild the structure at the lower section, along with small repairs to the skin in the same area, but, i plan to louver it so it had to come apart anyway.

Taking thunderbirdesq's idea, i made a louver punch die set and a half assed stand so i can ruin my deck lid.
The male part is brass and threaded on..Didn't have a chunk of solid steel so just made it from that and threaded it on.
I dig the early round style louvers, so i carved it up til i got the shape i was after. These are 3" wide.

Made a couple test punches and they came out nice but the tin i was using was a bit thicker than the deck lid so i'm thinking the deck will come out better. I plan to punch a few more in some 18 and 20ga before i go at the lid.

Here's some shots of the goofy assed punch set up..

I spent a couple hours marking out the lid already. There's 139 of 'em to be punched..
