Projects Speed Junky's '34 Ford pickup truck thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SPDJNKY, Dec 15, 2009.

  1. No updates right now. I am recouping some funds right now. Money isn't as plentiful as a few years ago:rolleyes:.
The truck is still at the shop. Should hopefully be able to finish up the odds and ends with the ch***is soon and then bring her home.

  2. I'm ready for more.................

  3. I been working on the doors getting them ready to be re-skinned and chopping the p***enger door. Also still gathering more parts. Not too much exciting happening at the minute.:)
    Thanks for checking in though.

    Any updates?

  5. Hey Don, Nothing yet. Hoping to get her home soon.
In the mean time I just moved and I'm getting settled in. I can finally see the tool box and floor again. I will get back on the doors soon.
The rest has to wait until she's back in my garage.

    I was gonna say, looked like either a 390 or a 430 T-bird! Cool!

  7. The game plan is to throw a 445 kit at it soon.
My motor is getting a complex sitting in HRCC shop surrounded by SOHC motors and big blower Hemi's. haha

  8. More cage ****.:D
Eyebrow bar is in, back wall bracing is in, sill bars are in, shoulder and diagnals are next.

The cage looks killer. How much more is HRCC going to do? Are they doing the pedals and steering? Any idea when it's coming home?

Does the dash come out? I know on mine I had to cut out the center of the dash and trim the lip on the cowl. It's still a tight fit getting it in and out!

  10. They have the steering, door swing outs, main hoop, and front bars to weld in and then she comes home. I can't wait! I was joking with them about picking it up this Saturday and they kindda laughed.:)
The clutch and brake pedal mounts are in already.

I'm not sure how tough the dash will be to remove. I'll figure that out when I get it home.

Are you still beating on your 34 Matt?

  12. Hahaha, I've lost 21lbs in the past 6 months and this is incentive to lose the other 10lbs I want off.:D
What's that, a quarter of a tenth of a second I shaved off for the track? lol

I'm sure some has pointed out that the commercial grille you got is a 33 not a 34.
The 33 grille has the Ford oval medallion mounted in the beaded center of the sheel face.
34 grilles have a bolt-on chrome ornament which runs from the matching radiator cap down to the grille opening into which the Ford oval bolts. 34s also have small holes for clips around the grille bar opening which hold a stainless moulding around the opening.

I remember when I was waiting to pick mine up from the ch***is shop. It felt like an eternity. It looks like they're in the home stretch now.

No, I wish. My truck looks like yours right now. I pulled it apart about 3 weeks ago. I got a bunch of things I need to get handled over the long Ohio winter.

  15. Thanks for the info!

i dont know how i have missed this thread, but this is a great build... keeping an eye on this as i am in the process of putting together my 33

  17. Thanks!
I have a tentative date of the 17th to go pick it up from the shop. All I can say is they did a great job on the ch***is and set up. It will be balls to the wall when I get it home and start working on it (as time allows). I sometimes wish I wasn't able to visualize it done because it makes me all the more impatient to want to drive it.:D
I finished hooking up the garage heater and three new electrical circuits last night in the garage so I guess I am ready for winter hot rod work.lol

  18. Quick update:
I picked up the truck and brought it home yesterday. I need to thank Lucky and Raygun for helping me get it loaded into the trailer.
The truck is on all fours now. It was awesome seeing it as a roller for the first time on Thursday night. HRCC finished setting the steering column, removable steering wheel ***embly, and door swing outs.
Here are some pics when I got it home.

  19. Looks great man! Won't be long now, huh?

  20. I did as much Hammer and dolly work before the roll bars went in as I could. Well I started on the remaining dents tonight and there are monkey bars everywhere. So plan B was to get out the stud gun. Hopefully my next posts will contain some nice smooth panels.:D

Brian, you do know the roof unbolts, right? :D

  24. yes, but I figured since i need to do the firewall, visor, cowl, doors and rear panel I might as well do the roof the same way. :D
You also know that sometimes I do things the hard way too.
