I am very sad to hear that Burke has p***ed on. When I crashed at El Mirage in '62, Burke was the first one on the scene, and began to try to get me out of the wreck. I was 17 years old, and even though i was barely alive, I can remember Burke's words trying to re***ure me that I was in good hands and would be OK. Burke had suffered a similar crash at the same age in the 50's at El Mirage. He knew what I went through, how scared I was, and what I would go through during the healing process. Burke came by the hospital often during the 3 weeks I was there. We bonded over our similar situations at the lakes. Dad and I had lunch with Burke most every Friday when he worked for Ak Miller in the 80's. When he left that job he came to work at our shop in the office. He worked for us for about 3 years. Burke's first love was reading. He had a huge book collection. He left his job with us to move to Santa Barbara and open a little book store/coffee shop. Burke had a wonderful sense of humor. Being barely 5' tall, he carried joke business cards that read: Burke Le Sage "Worlds Tallest Midget". I have not seen Burke since he retired and moved out to the 29 Palms area, and I have missed my old friend. RIP Burke, and say hi to Ak and all our other racer pals up there for me.
