Twice so far but after a certain age even the good movies seem new! That's definitely a 'keeper' though; reminds me a lot of when I was growing up, except the tongue stuck to the flagpole routine!

Only once so far but it never gets old. I am sure to see it again before the season is over.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

I seen the anniversary addition which features an interview with Peter Billingsley. He still has the Red Ryder BB gun, and pink bunny PJ's from the film! Hilarious! Here is Ralphie all growed up!

  11. Watched it once. There are so many Christmas movies that I can oly watch each of them once a year. "It's a Wonderful Life" is still my favorite but Ralfie and the gang run a close second. Watched "Elf" last night, LMAO!

Even though it's on cable ad-nauseum each year, I bought my own copy a while back which turned out to be a great idea.

Now my wife and I watch it can once a year when we want,....which this year was just the other night.

That was my life.....every part of it. Everything from having to wear those damned snow-suits to standing in the bathroom with a bar of soap in my mouth to freezing my tongue to Johnny Misuraca's chain link fence rail.

Ok you guys are watching the Movie which probably parallels in a lot of ways how a lot of us grew up. I remember a snow suit like Ralphs younger brother, there was always a Kid you could get to stick his tongue on the bridge railing, and BB gus were a sign of a right of passage. Lifebouy soap was one of my least favorite flavors, and I was pissed when I decoded the Ovaltine message too.

But what about the cars??? I believes Ralphs dad was a 37/8 Olds so he musta had a very good job, even though his spare tire was a bald as a newborn, It was still a car that very few in the middle class could aspire to. The roadster and A bodies in the empty lot, I believe I saw a Red Chrysler Airflow making a turn in the downtwn scene very early in the movie. There are a couple of torpedoe bodied GM. and host of others.

Whithout pausing the DVD, net time you watch it, see how many you can ID.

It's my holiday favorite for two reasons:

    1) My father loved the movie- it reminded him of growing up, and it reminds me of him.

    2) The way the old man acts on Christmas day- like it's no big deal, but in reality, he enjoys watching his kids thrilled over what they got- that's my dad to a "tee."

I watch it at least once each year by myself. Just me, the movie, Dad's Red Ryder BB gun in my lap, and his memories in my head.

And yes, I longingly lust after that sedan body in the fight scene

On my second go around. When our dogs run throught the house, I refer to them as the Bumpus' hounds.

A Christmas tradition for me, just like "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

only twice (so far) but as I sit here typing this I am drinking coffee out of a leg lamp crate cup and looking at one of my "electric****" leg lamps, I have two plus a full size lighted poster in the window and thinking about all the things we did as kids like in the movie, BB guns, decoders, Boy's Life magazines and I swear the teacher is Miss Brooks at Joel Chandler Harris Elementary School on the west end of Atlanta. What good memories. Merry Christmas to all!!

  24. Wish I had a few of those model a bodies sitting around during the fight scene.

the sedan and roadster bodies are the best. just sitting there on the ground with a model A in the barn behind them. "ralphy beats up bully scene"!

Okay, help me with this one- the movie is supposed to be set in 1939 or 1940. But isn't that cop car (flagpole scene) a '47 Chevy?
