We became intimately familiar with Brookville parts when my Son bought his 30 rpu body unassembled instead of already all put together. He decided to do it that way because we were going to have to cut it up anyway to channel it and he saved some money by buying it unassembled. He also got delivery quicker than waiting for them to build it.

During the time we were building the body I had to make a few calls to Brookville to ask questions when we got stumped, and they were always extremely accomodating and friendly. Everyone there from the receptionist down to the guys who actually put them together were willing to spend as much time as needed to tell us what we needed to do. Bob, who I think is the owner, was the same way when we chatted with him at Turkey Run........just a good old boy who takes pride in what they do.

Here are some pictures of the 13 boxes his body showed up in. It wasn't like putting together an erector set but sure better than any rusty original we have ever played with. It is companies like Brookville who keep this hobby so accessible to hobbyists who otherwise would never be able to build the car of their dreams.

The body is a brand new Brookeville 28-29 roadster.
Also when I talked with Brookeville they said they build in 60 hours labor to install these fenders, they also admit there are issues but these are the only steel fenders around.
I give them credit for the honesty AFTER the fact but I wish I knew they were this bad before I laid out the cash.
Yes, the frame is dead on flat with all the correct contours and has been checked against two original Henry Ford Model A frames that are both in great shape.
Guess what, the Brookeville fenders don't fit either frame and are just as far outa wack!
As for one guys comment about XMAS, yes it is and I'm not bitchin' just letting you all know of this experience is all.
As for the other guy about two posts, there has been no reason to post anything else so what does that matter how many posts there are?
Great Holidays to all, I will run the Wescotts with little work to be done.

According to Brookeville their Model A fenders come from Gas Light, they also told me over the phone that the 30-31's are even worse.
The respnse from Brookeville was almost unbelievable, I still have trouble believing what was said to me over the phone.
Don't get me wrong, I think if Brookeville actually made these fenders they would be of much higher quality.
I picked these fenders up at Pleasanton along with the complete body so no way were they tweeked in shipping as one writer has suggested.

Like DON, I bought a complete unassembled RPU body "except a 28" , I used my original cowl, but everything else fit like a glove. The 28-29 RPU bodies are simple to put together, especially if you use a original cowl section

    Correction made - "pieced together"

My Brookville 31 RPU really does have great fit on doors and cowl panel as delivered.

You shouldn't be bitching about Brookville's fenders because they do not make model A fenders.. They get them all from Gas light Auto........

Brooksville, does not make their own fenders, they get them from another source. and yes, they do require some work

scrap metal beat me to it

Well there we have it, the easiest way then trying to resell would be to make them work.

That's a real fine looking roadster you got there probably was easier to fit the new fenders then hrs of hammering to get the originals to look and fit that well.

I bought mine from Brooksville but they are not made by them. If you ask them upfront they will tell you they do not make them, they get them from another source. I wish they would build molds to build their own as the quality would probably be better.

    He used to work there....

  15. The obvious solution to this problem is to leave the fenders off. :D

  16. yep. I have got some 30-31 RPU panels from Mikes A-Fordabl parts.- www.mikes-afordable.com

Good service, good price but I need to "adjust" the panels.

Have a look at the "back in black rpu build" thread, some tweaking required to get it prefect.

I've deleted my post three times now in an effort to clean it up.....:D:D

I'd want to know before buying if I wasn't so familar with this company so personally I think you are doing people a favor by posting this.

The real issue is, it's a part by part deal where some are "good" and some are completely junk. I say find a builder you trust and ask his opinion and experience on the given part before buying anything from anywhere. Buying one part one time and fudging it on a driver quality car is not the same as building them every day and seeing the good with the bad.

That said for those who want nice cars and who have bought from Brookville, they help keep guys like me in work...:D

I made 28 dodge fenders fit my T,,,,it was a lot of work and im no metal magician,,,i just took it as the easier option (they cost me $40 for a full set and i could afford my own labour,,i couldnt afford new steel fenders so it was easier to work with what i had available)
I understand the frustration of a new part not fitting,,,but everytime ive had this happen ive made them work for me,,,,and usually taught myself something new along the way,,,,,,make the steel ones fit!! cause theres no class in fibreglass,,imho
The Glass is Half full.....youve got a new set of rust free steel fenders!!!!! dont waste em!

A frame from one maker, body from a second, rear fenders from a third and the fronts from a fourth, and you expect them to bolt together? Wait till you try to bolt up the accessories and aline the radiator and hood. I'm very happy with everything I've bought from Brookville over the years.

I'll tell you what is hard to make fit on a Model A..........that stainless steel cowl band ! We wrestled a few days trying to get the one on my Son's 30 to fit right and even looked at a bunch of other A's at a show to see how theirs fit. The hard part is to get it to lay straight and also not scratch the paint when you are tightening down those two adjuster nuts.

We finally got it on ok but there was a point where we considered smoothing over the holes and locator bumps and eliminating it altogether.:p

I started putting a set of glass fenders on because they were cheaper and after laying the up to the body and frame I sold them and went to the new steel fenders and like I said I know Brookville does not stamp the but I think they work with GasLiite and I had no adjustments what so ever to make just painted and put them on never did look back

For the most part, with early fords you are LUCKY if anything bolts up, this includes NOS, used, repop, whatever. These cars are not that precise, as an example, I have a '30 Cabriolet, probably one of the best bodies in the USA, no rust, no damage, no old repairs, trunk and doors fitment is near perfect, yet there is a 1/2" difference in the body from side to side. These cars were hand built, to expect anyone to make a replacement part to fit all is simply not possible. Not to say people won't sell you a shit part, I purchased a "pinched" '32 frame made by a well known source, looked great, except they had the front crossmember welded in 1/4" off from side to side, now, that pissed me off! And no it is not cause of the body issue. You build a frame with todays resources it should be right, but there is no way to make a '30 fender to bolt up to all '30s out there, hey, if it were that easy we would get bored and find a new hobby!

To net an all steel Brookville body and fenders, invest your own "60 hours" to fit the steel fenders. Take my word for it-you'll probably have a good 10 hours into fitting the fiberglass fenders (that already "fit") anyway, so it's really 50 hours work.

I've read that Henry had multiple sources for Model A fenders, so it's a grab bag of fun trying to get fenders, etc. to fit.

Be damn glad you're not dealing with a 33/4. 60 hours looks like a cake walk compared to fitting steel fenders, running boards, tank cover, grille, full hood on my 34.

I built a 29 Roadster from Brookville parts. Not every thing fit LIKE A GLOVE LOL. But it was a fun build and I was very happy to get new parts that were good quality, NO rust, and when I was done it looked like a 29 Roadster. Thanks Brookville. Iceman

The man has a point ……. when you put out your hard earned cash for something like this it should fit or need very little ….

After all ... are they advertised as Model A fenders or Generic 20’s to 30’s car fenders ?

You guys that are bagging on him have just decided to settle for less in life and cant see when your getting screwed …. that’s your problem not his.

I've got to admit that if Brookville routinely charges 60 hours to fit the fenders in house, they should tell any potential customers what to expect before they sell 'em the fenders.
