My wife is a big supporter in my hobby, so she suprized me with a sweet stand up drill press for the shop... im so glad shes on board unlike a lot of hot rodders women i hear about. Cant imagine how hard it would be to get anything, or anything done for that matter with out her being so understanding in my addiction to such expensive hobby!! well i hope you all got all your parts or tools needed to handle your projects this winter... Merry Christmas and a happy new years to all!!!

My wife loves the old car and old boat hobby as well. Sure makes life fun. I got a new pair of waders under the tree. Maybe I'll wear them at the next car club meeting when things start to get deep. Happy Holidays!

My wife thinks my hobby is a total waste of time and money so I have to buy what I want/need. I bought a 9000# Manitowoc two lift for the shop for my Christmas/birthday present. She wasn't over ecstatic about the purchase but she's accepted it. That's about the best I could hope for.

Bought a used Esab 250 migmaster with an aluminum spool gun.
Got tired of trying to get an old Century 110v flux core mig to do anything useful.

My wife is not into the old cars like I am but she knows how much I like it. She hardly ever questions any of my purchases. She even helped me talk myself into gettign a four post lift a while back. Shes a keeper. She even got me a new Digital SLR for Christmas cause she knows how much I like to take pics at car shows and swap meets.

My wife used to be lukewarm on my addiction. I have decided to open my part time ch***is shop on a full time basis after about 40 years. She has been unbelievably supportive becoming my biggest fan and critic.

For the holidays I treated myself, with her approval to a full set of aircraft and structural riveting tools. Everything!

    How cool is that?

wait till she needs a brake job or trans work, or under body work done and you dont have to pay some one else to do it..

this is what i call taking care of your self, and family

so , how do you like the lift so far? this is what im planing on doing next, Ive slowed down on building and just doing some shop clean up and some small things for friends.
What did you pay for your lift?
I feel if Im going to move forward with all the rolling stock I have, this is a much needed piece of equipment.

I haven't put it up yet, I'm itching to get it up but I have a panel truck I'm tearing apart in the space I'm going to install the lift in.

I paid $2000 which might be on the high side but this unit has only been in a private garage and looks almost new. From the research I have done before buying this unit the Manitowoc looks to be at least twice as big as any other lift I've seen. Heavy as hell, each post weighs over 600 lbs. It also came with truck adapter, two oil drain cans, the type with the long necks, a screw lift and a Blackhawk transmission jack.

Wife got me a gift card for Eddy Bauer so I guess I'll have a new sweatshirt to wear out working on the truck. She has always been into the cars but doesn't get into buying me tools.

Got a dewalt chop saw, set of ratcheting wrenches, snap guages, micrometers, and a caliper.

This may not be the thread but I would like to say that I was impressed with my HF "pittsburgh" micrometer set for 30ish bucks. Calibrated them and checked them with guage blocks against a set of starrett micrometers and they are just as accurate. Don't know how well they would hold up using them everyday but for a hobbyist they are a great buy.

My wife got me a new 3 ton floor jack and a case of Zagnut bars for Christmas. Life is good.

She spent the morning of New Years Eve under her daily driver with me bolting on a receiver hitch. She said she can understand why I like tinkering on vehicles.

When it somes to having a supportive family, I may not win, but I'd at least get an honorable mention. My wife and daughter came to me with an envelope full of cash they'd squirrelled away and said "Happy Father's Day- go buy a project car."

They both love going to the car shows. Wife loves to hunt parts for me, but doesn't get hands on in the shop too often. Daughter, on the other hand...

My wife got a new Miller Diversion TIG welder and I got a Kendel and make-up. She does not weld, and I do not enjoy reading nor do I wear make-up - so we traded gifts.

Mrs got me an ultrasonic parts cleaner, God bless her. She's supportive but don't visit the shop too often. I'm working on guiding my 12 year old sweetheart into the hobby, I'd love that. If she shows some interest I'll restore the G***er for her as a family project.

Had our car in the shop, loaner was a full size pickup. Wife said, "this is a sign that it's time to stop at HF for that tool box you were looking at".

Who am I to say no :)
