  1. I heard you mention you got sick. Glad you pulled through! Hope to see you on the salt. Still digging your house, drives me to finish our up finally.

  3. Thanks but I don't think I am happy yet. The cage grew upwards a few inches. Need to get Myself and Todd in there and sit in the real position. Right now we have room for ISP padding which I wanted but still may have some slack to take up.

Trent, Just read the whole thread again as a refresher and picked up some things that I had missed. Looks good and I'm impressed with the progress. Sorta makes me jealous for not being, closer. I sure would like to be involved with bending and fabricating the frame/cage. After doing that kind of work 6-7 days a week for 15 years you'd think i would never want to touch the stuff again......................WRONG. With a time out to recover from my head injury I'd like nothing better than to exercise my brain/body with a "clean sheet of paper" build like your doing. I guess once you've been trained to be a work-a-haulic it's hard to shift gears.
Side note: Nothing to report on the "storage break in". If I hadn't had such terrific legal representation during the aftermath of my accident I'd strongly suggest all lawyers be placed in a boiling caldron of tar. :)

  5. Thanks Frank! I seriously think of you every time I hit the button on our rickety old 20 foot shop doors............as I dive to the side! Wish you were closer as well:)

Just found an older Neal clutch pedal and ordered it. MC looks toast but maybe I can rebuild it. So many errands to run in the next couple weeks I don't know what I can accomplish. Hope to get the fiberglass stuff bought for the nose and get more tubes bent.

Hi, hope you get the pictures Tim is sending you about the headrest. And if you have any questions you know how to get in touch with me.

  7. Gerry, yes I got them today and sent them on to Tony. Thanks!

  8. Ok, so I don't have to figure one out for you...

    Logical choice.

How are you guys going to mount your steering wheel and rack?

  9. Was going to call you later! $40 for a pedal we cant make one for that. MC on it is rough, need to either rebuild it or find a Neal/Howe/Willwood/Tilton in 3/4" to rebuild it.

For the wheel I have those GM DD parts and the front will all be solid mount. No suspension.

Still looking for a NACA duct for the intake. Django sent me some aircraft links and that Pro-werks one looks pretty good.

Hey! I have a brand new Wilwood I've been dragging around to swaps for a year... It's 3/4" shoot me a P.m.

  11. What are you going to use for a go pedal, I might have one you can use........ Carl

  12. Thanks Carl, but Kiwi Kev made me one. It is pictured a few pages back. Your offer is appreciated:)

  13. Oh yep I just read the whole thread, I guess better late than never?, I didn't realise you were doing this. It looks great and you help is first class..... another thread to subscribe to............

  14. Thanks Carl!

  15. More measuring and fitting. Carla shot these of me tonight. We are close, taller than I wanted but will be realatively comfy and SAFE.

Next step is refitting the top hoop a tad tighter with better copes and adding bottom tubes and seat formers so i can get a real fell how it will be an inch or so lower in the car, between the rails. After these shots I did the full on Carhart/sweater Norwegian mockup of a firesuit and fit well!

  16. Spent the morning banch racing and making plans with Tom. Good time in the shop comparing notes and ideas. Picked up a soon-to-be-needed front mount and the right bellhousing. Then took a side trip to Carlas uncles place an hour East of Tom to press the rear wide 5 centers and 5" Ford hoops together. Might as well make a holiday trip car-worthy!

AHhhh, the time goes way to fast. We probably should have pulled the camera out too. Thanks for bringing my 261. Trent, I have a good chance at trading for the other Chevy. If so, that might be the car the first 235 test mule and then later this 261 will go in.

  18. No prob Tom. The engine mounts will get put to use in short order. Will shoot pictures when things are mocked up.

What are you planning for suspension ?

  20. Rigid as are many of the cars. It is however going to be modular so I "could" bolt front and rear suspension on it OR even swap it over to a full streamliner;)

  21. Weekend progress, ready to set the dial indicator up for the wheels, they are VERY close already. Rear Wide 5 centers pressed into the 5" Ford hoops. Thanks Ebert!

As a long time spectator on the salt, I would think a lot of people would be looking at the Speed demon for ideas. 414 with 299 CI is rather earth shaking. Aero must play a big part of that.

  25. Thats a NICE flatty that came with my Tudor from GV Gordon. It was destined for my brothers T roadster but since he is p whipped and not working on it who knows where it will land ;):D You also dont see the 4 banger in the other corner of the shop.

Very true Don, but I am torn. Both the Costella cars and Speed Demon are inspiring. Due to layout this thing is coming out in between the two in size and front profile. The tall 6 banger is dictating some of that, as well as driver comfort and ISP safety padding in the cage. The same stuff John Force, Speed Demon and other cars use. :)

  26. Don, are your fingers in the right place? I'd swear the Speed Demon went by me at 441 with the 299" motor. Wayno

  27. Just looking at the upper and lower rails you got there, I see this
