    Some options:
    1 - stock grille removed
2 - cabinet knob grille (I think I would use square knobs, though)
    3 - cabinet knob grille
4- D'Agostino's Firestar T-Bird for comparison (per James D's suggestion)

How about floating a 1957 Chevy truck grille center piece?
I also tucked the bumper end in closer to the body, which tightens the design.

A simple, thin tube grille, with the ends curved backward.
Three sets of two for some negative space visual interest.
    Turn signals hidden.

And for my 1000th post on the H.A.M.B.:

The ever-popular 1958 Buick square grille.
Could be done with stainless-steel kitchen cabinet drawer-pulls, too.

Thanks to all my fellow customizers who let me visually butcher your cars and trucks.
This place is just too cool!

Sorry this took so long. I threw out the first few tries. Some colors are easier to manipulate than others. I find black tones the hardest. I'm not wild about the execution, but you get the idea.

Anyway here are two versions of your car:

The first is black-over-white, as you requested.
The second is black over that lovely green shade.

Your Studebaker Wagonaire is a very cool product and reminded me of the similar year Ramblers.

I owned a 1968 Rambler American and have soft spot for AMC products. Their chief stylist, Dick Teague, did wonders for the AMC image on a very tight budget with the Marlin, Javelin, and AMX.

So I decided to use the Marlin for inspiration. Grille and wheel covers are an easy swap. I would have used some of the really neat mid-sixties AMC mag wheels, but couldn't find any at a suitable angle.

I removed the roof-rack and lowered it. Also tucked the bumper a tad.

I included two shots of a Marlin to refresh your memory.

Any of those wheels would work, period-wise, but since the wagon is so angular, I'd go for something with a more chiseled look. Maybe Radirs or an early Hurst mag wheel.

I'll try. I'm not good at doing gloss black paint, so it will take a bit of time and probably won't come out very good. But I'll see what I can do with it tonight or tomorrow. Maybe some of the better artists will take a shot at it too.

With out starting over this is the best I could do in making the flat black
    paint look gloss.
