Nice work, when you go to dial the chassis in that adjustable link at the rear of the ladder bars will really pay off.

    Dave,

I remember a few years back that the nose from the Eastern Automotive Willys was on Ebay for sale. I tried to buy it as garage art but got outbid.
Do you know where it ended up ? I think the nose that you posted earlier in the thread is the same one, note the gold paint and Crower decals. Where is the car today ?

bubba..it has been 3 years ago or so that I came across an ad for a steel willys coupe. I can't remember where right now. He was a nice fella and we talked several times about this car. As we talked he told me stories of people that had the car and where it had been. He said it was alledgedly the original Eastern Shaker. I asked him if he was able to verify that in any way and he was going to try to look under some of the paint, etc, also told me he would give me names of guys I could get a hold of to ask about it. the car had been changed a lot adding a mustang II and a new front clip as he said the original clip had been sold years back but may know where it was at. this guy lived in New York I think and the people he spoke of were either from there or Jersey.. may have been Bobby somebody that had raced or owned the car before? he told me stories of some road in New York City where the car guys would go hang out all the time..maybe by a a wharf or something..I really can't remember. I guess that Bobby guy used to take the car there..I had it all wrote down but discarded it long ago when I didn't go look at it. The car looked to need a bit of work as it appeared kind of rough. He told me he was going to take it to Goodguys up that way to see if he could sell it. I don't know what he ever did with it. Take it for what it is here as I never really found out for certain if it was indeed the car or not..maybe some one would recognize something from one of these pics he sent to me. It was rather interesting talking to him about it, wonder if it really was or not?

  4. That place the car guys hung out at was the Imfamous New York City Connecting Highway. I actually have a water based decal that looks like an NHRA sticker that has a dragster chased by a police car in the middle, a "Dedicated to Speed" proclamation, and Street Race Winner on the lower part!! Used to be a major player back in the muscle car days. Big bucks were played. Cars were even trailered in to within a block or so to race there at night.

    Bubba-

When you asked me about the Eastern Shaker I remember talking to Cruzzin (Wayne) about it when it was for sale, after your request I contacted Cruzzin and asked his help with your question. I figured he would have pictures and more info as he was looking for a steel Willys at the time and the Eastern Shaker was one coupe he was considering to buy. Glad you posted Wayne.

My 39 Willys 4 door was supposed to have been built in Maywood California. I have been unable to learn much about these cars. Any info out there? Were they different from Toledo cars? Also, it has the high mounted rectangular taillights, but I'm not sure what dictated which cars got these.Anyone? Thanks.

  16. I did a 1940/41 frame last year that had those perches. I couldn't find ant numbers on it to designate the year. It was a bare frame too, so wheelbase was a question. Was a Willys though!!
