They sell round track car stuff, but these shocks are actually a 90/10.

Now I'm worried, I was always thought my pick-up would look better with a straight axle. Awesome car and great tech thread, Your post made me join this site.

killer thread, so much useful info, the caster number was a big help (I was running 3-4 degrees-squirelly as hell when you let off!) cool to see another "modern" motor in a traditional style race car

Beleive it or not I put the rear suspension in that car years ago for Gene when he owned the car. Kind of curious if the car still has the same basic stuff?? I am sure the coil overs are long gone ..they were to be used as mock ups but never got taken back off because they seemed to work fine for the holeshots on the street. The g***er bars were some of the first that S&W sold and I had my doubts about the urethane front eyes ...... if they are still on there then they have done thier job.. Small world

Very cool car. Thanks for the write up. You said once you rattle canned the new frame. Did you ever go back and paint it for real? I have had both types of paint job on a frame. Especially on something that is going to get beat on like a race car the spray bomb is the way to go. Looks great to me and much easier to fix and maintain than a more expensive paint job. I love everything about your car.

By the way what details can you tell us about the headers? Are they off the shelf or if not who made them? Did you use any type of header kit to start with? Tube size, etc. Thanks for all of you information you have p***ed on to all of us. Good luck in the future.

When the rear housing brace was welded on, it was warped. We cut the housing ends off and rewelded them with a straight jig installed.

We removed the panhard bar and added a track locator.
We also added a complete cage NHRA legal to 8.50 to help stiffen up the ch***is.
Same non adjustable coil over shocks are on the car today!

The front frame section is still just rattle can satin black.
The headers are a complete custom build from a race shop back in Florida when I lived there. 2 1/8 primaries.
    Thanks

An east coast g***er racer gave me the number for Jim Tinsmith (Tinny) from PA. After a few conversations with Tinny, I was sold on his Chromoly axle. Jim is a long time racer and fabricator. He said they come 53" king pin to king pin. 2" O.D, quarter wall, and zero drop. After seeing the Speedway axles and how narrow they were, I'm glad I bought the axle from Jim.
Here it is with Ch***is Engineering spindles and Wilwood brakes:
They spindles are forged pieces from Ch***is Engineering. I wanted the strongest stuff possible since I knew my car would be driven hard.[/QUOTE]

Great choice on axle and materials ! Street rod stuff and racing don't mix well !
    OBTW....Beeeeeutiful wheel stand !
