It's looking good....but its about time to put down the bike and get an update on this!!! Really like your thread.
Looks like you got to the bodywork and got stumped. Lots of nasty areas on that body and its going to take a lot of work to straighten and repair. I would re-make large sections of the panels because it is quicker and a better result can be achieved i believe. The shapes are fairly simple to create. David
Thanks for the words... Not stumped just yet but will let you know when I get there... Amen brother... Got another chopper built and close to out the way... Will be Hittin the Chum Bucket hard!! Getting back in action baby! Woohoo! Waiting for engine, and will then pull trigger on trans set up. Just need to clean off the lift and progress should follow. I have pictures I need to load as I have tons of questions... Yes Sir! Bikes put down (well mostly ) and updates to follow...
LOL, Barely man just barely. Came back from the machine shop and will post pictures shortly. I need to drive on and "git er dun" as I feel that if I don't close the show in the next six months, I may give up interest I am looking to pull the trigger on an Indian Chief or earlier Scout 101 to restore. That has always been a dream of mine as I grew up around them. If I don't get tempted by that side bar I should make it through! Thanks for the support.
Those cracks between the stud hole and the water port in the center are SUPPOSED to be there. Who told you to have those fixed? How come you can spend 4 grand on a motorcycle (?) crank, but can't pay to have the body on your T sandblasted? With all the rust pits on it, you will need to blast it sooner or later. You must be a glutton for punishment to grind that paint/rust off by yourself.
Please do elaborate on the cracks as I cannot see how a crack benefits an engine block unless it is some form of archaic oiling/venting/cooling system?? As for the crank, it is a billet show polished crank off a race engine, and a race car team, not I spent 4 grand on the crank (I just posted it for posterity's sake as I have throughout this build...) I have blasting equipment and the decision to blast vs roloc has been a careful one... That body is in such bad shape that I fear that soda blasting it (a huge pain in the ass for me) may not yield the results I intend as most of those pitted panels will need replaced anyways. Thank you in advance for your input.
