Would the weight be better there or would it be better directly over the axle or just in front of the axle?
Being a guy who ends up throwing weight in the truck for traction in the winter I find that weight right at the tailgate tends to make the truck a bit light on the front wheels.

I help on a Roadster and a Lakester.

The roadster is out of power by the 4, so weight is not an issue. More weight for more traction dosen't hurt. And the car was to a wind tunnel last year. Knowledge gained from that allowed it to run 204+ this year. And qualified for a record, but did not back it up. Previous top speed in 2010 was around 185.

The lakester, on the other hand is on a diet. We have good traction and the car is still accelerating out the back. So WE ARE drag racing. This year we made 8 passes. All eight were 300+. But the record we are going after is a 315 average between 4 and 5. We had a high top speed of 313.6. We are the first unblown gas lakester to reach 300 on carburetors. Two regular Holley 1050 CFM dominators.

  11. You have pictures of those cars? I know I have seen them posted on landracing but I forget.

I hate to highjack Mctim's post with OT stuff, but. :)
Here's two of the lakester. One with ashphalt tires at Loring ME. The other at the line at the salt.
The roadster. I don't have any of. It's just a brookville 32, black. Just like most all the other STR cars. Runs a Dutwieller 260 CI V-8 in E.

  13. OK, I was pretty sure you were with THAT lakester. I stopped by the pit but you guys were pretty busy.
