The Chinese don't always make cheap parts, they build according to the plans and schematics supplied by US companies. They COPY. If they are supplied with a quality original, they make a quality copy of it. So you can't blame them totally. The US companies, in an effort to get every fu*king dollar, choose to have things made with inferior product. So, don't blame the Chinese, WE are our own worst enemy.

    Basicly, USA = GREED.

    Oh... nice 1,000 post, Casey!

WTF dude, I didn't ask anybody to do a thing, I didn't start a telethon or beg for a kidney, I didn't even bring up the word r**-rod. All I did was notice that a lot of posts were complaining about the shoddy parts they were getting and put two and two together. I tell you what, if you want to support the Chinese, go to Walmart and get yourself some bunchless panties.

Sadly, and I mean no offense on anyone by saying this, but a great many of you are simply missing the bigger picture here. Yes, you all have valid points; however, there is a fundamental underlying problem that only a few have touched on.

It IS this but the reasons are not as simple as just saying it is "corporate greed".

The laws governing publicly traded companies in this country are at fault here. These laws were indeed written for the corporations, by those they influence. Make no mistake, there is no politics here, only money. The corporations will pay ANYONE to have their will done.

What we are all stuck with now is a system that has codified into law the notion that the first and only responsibility that a publicly traded corporation has is to produce the maximum return for the shareholders. That is all, nothing else. If the executive staff does or attempts to do anything else they can be fired or prosecuted, or both. They are doing what they are required to by law. If it means moving a plant to Mexico, China, or to the bottom of the sea with waterproof robots, that is what they are required to do.

This is why you found them dumping toxic waste, until they got caught and were made to stop. They were doing it tom save money. Now they have just moved to where they can do it and get away with it. Same for wages. Can't lower them here, go where you can. Don't want to comply with the US tax code, "locate" offshore. It is all legal.

What can we do. Everyone on this board, combined, is a drop in the ocean.

Be kind to each other. Try to do what you believe to be the right thing. Take care of yourself and your family, and hope for the best.

  7. Who here has not shopped at Harbor Freight? I do, and it's not because I like crap made in China. But why go to Sears, purchase a "Craftsman" C clamp that was made in China and pay twice the money?

I try to buy American when I can but let's face it, that is not always possible. I'll keep my views on the EPA and government to myself....
