New gal, old car.

I've been a lurker/browser on here as well as at many events & have loved rods, etc. for years. My dad was a drag racer back in the days of the Hollywood track in Miami and had a 50 Chevy, 68 Camaro, & more that I can't remember. I had a fully built 03 Mustang GT but lost it in an accident 2 years ago. Decided to take some time off from toys and bought myself a house.

Well, I guess fate decided it was time for me to have fun again and placed a new project in my lap. Just purchased it yesterday, sort of on the fly, from a friend of mine who needed cash. It's a 1953 Customline with an inline 6. Needs a starter, but otherwise runs & drives with no issues. The driver's side floor needs some patching but that will be done soon, and the gl*** needs replacing on the drivers' windows. From then on, I'll make it my own. Plans are undecided as of yet but I have time.

Anyways enough rambling... I look forward to joining the fun. I know a couple members that are local to me but can't wait to meet more. I'm kinda shy but I'll figure it out...

Thanks! I've been doing some digging and it looks like I was mislead by my seller lol (although he was probably mislead too) and it looks like it's actually a Mainline... Anyone know the differences between the 2 or how to distinguish? I'll run a search too, obviously.

Welcome, and best of luck with the new wheels. By the look of those goofy drainage ditches that totally destroy our front lawns, we might even be neighbors. Why the town cant find better use of our tax dollars to open old airport to make into a drag strip, I'll never know, instead we get goofy drainage ditches, TR

 

Haha! Where are you from? Those pics aren't new. I didn't snap any when I went to pay for the car (buddy's place) but they are from Port St. Lucie. Once I get the car home I'll snap some pics.

BTW an old airport turned strip would be rather awesome.

Good to see a South Floridian. I noticed the sig, I went to a show down there and fell in love with the place, but it's such a hike for me (1hr). I WISH they had a place like that up here in Palm Beach but it's a different crew around here I guess. I know Monterey is closing and Propaganda is hosting the shows, which is a lot closer. Perhaps we'll meet.

 

Thanks! I agree, ladies in this genre are hard to find. My best friend is into it as well, the Mustangs, and has a 97 Cobra with a custom turbo setup she installed with her fiancé.

I'm in Palm Beach Gardens, but lived in Miami until I was 12. My dad lived in Homestead, FL when he raced at Hollywood. I still have one of his old drag race entry forms. He p***ed in 2005 <3

Edit: He stopped racing when I was born, apparently he didn't want a baby at the track he just continued to work on his cars and his buddies' cars in the garage. I have pics of me digging through toolboxes in my diapers!

Yep, flames aren't for everyone. But the first car I laid flames on was a 58 Impala convertible 42 years ago in Avon Florida.

But yours looks cool just the way it is!
