Picked up a body from this guy that says its a 30 model a coupe. I started looking for some tail lights and all the lights I've found so far are round shaped. The tail light mounts in the body are more of a boxed rectangular shape. Anyone have any ideas?

  2. Without pics...hard to say. A WAG would be '41 Chevy like Milner's coupe.

Original tail lights would have been mounted to a stand on the fender, not in a hole in the body. That tells me they are light that were added at some point. But, without pictures who knows.

I'll post pics as soon as I can.

  6. My psychic is on vacation and I will have to wing it without a picture. Are they '65/'66 Mustang? The original Model A lights are round and mount on a bracket attached to the fender.

any ideas? looks like these may have been cut into the body.

  9. I'll gou out on a limb and say VW beetle.... Sounds odd but that looks like the rubber weatherstripping off one... Kind of odd combo though....

That license plate light housing looks VW as well....

  11. Squirrel,I believe the gasket you show in your pic is the one from the housing to the body, looks like the housing or some piece of it is already there in his and the gasket from the housing to the lens is what's shown in his pic. Just and uneducated guess !!! Maybe a 68-72 Beetle. Ya if you'll notice the're backwards in respect to how they were mounted originally on a Beetle on the fenders. Growing up we had seven of those things over the years, fortunately I got to tall and fat to get in one !!!!

I agree they look like VW lense shapes. In any case, if it were mine, I would remove these light buckets, fill the holes and install something more tasteful...

I am a fan of light that can be seen, but those are...... whew!

I used late 40's Oldsmobile lights in my A. They are big enough to be seen, but not too big for the car (in my opinion :D)

I have no idea but it looks simple enough to slick it off, cut and weld in some patches in the holes and use the lights your brain always wanted on it. Just because someone else stuck those on there doesn't mean you are stuck with them.
