thanks for the pic's guys. realy cool seeing the old stuff! My son is doing a report on the changes in saftey and technology in law enforcement. He decided to do it because of the stuff I talk about after work. I work on squads all day at work. Keep the pic's coming

The ultimate site for police car photographs is Dave Arnold's www.copcar.com Of the more than 60,000+ contributor's pictures on the site, I have more than 15,000 of my own photos there as well. Some of them have already made it into this thread prior to my reply.

CCdC is a great reference for people restoring vintage police vehicles, which I have been doing for more than 20 years.

4th and 5th pictures down are the old LAPD freeway pursuit patrols. Mildly built with a rollcage, they handled the freeway traffic in L.A. till the CHP took it over.

Just remembered these and scanned them in for this thread...
Courtesy from the book: A Pictorial History of Chevrolet 1929-1939

1st picture: A number of Detroit's finest pose with their new 1933 Chevrolet Standard cars.

2nd picture: The Detroit automobile manufacturers frequently donated 'saftey cars' to the Detroit Police for educational visits to schools. This shot do***ents the presentation of a new 1934 Chevrolet Master two-door Coach.

The 2nd picture and background story would be a good addition to the project.

Some of us will remember this scene from the 1983 movie: 'The Christmas Story' with the police and fire dept. being called to remove the boy's tongue from the frozen pole.

It's one of the anachronisms of the movie, as the movie timeline is supposed to be 1939-40, but the police car is a 1948 Chevy.
