Upon her arrival in Hollywood in 1930, Dietrich was presented
with a spanking new Rolls-Royce "transformable" torpedo
phaeton with coachwork by Hibbard & Darrin on a Springfield
Phantom I chassis by Paramount Pictures, which was soon to
produce her follow-up to "Blue Angel," namely "Morocco,"
costarring Gary Cooper. This was Dietrich's second Rolls-Royce.
Dave Greenlees, who posted the above Dietrich photo on his
EXCELLENT site, The Old Motor, tells us that this very RR, now
fully restored, will headline Bonham's inaugural 2012 auction in
Scottsdale next Thursday, January 19. How much will this unique
car bring? I'm reminded of Dan Aykroyd's words: "The possibilities
    are unlimitless!"

From FlickR, this is apparently a shot of the Rolls on the gigantic barge that was
built to drag it around to shooting site in the Cali desert during the making of
"Morocco." The car did actually appear in the movie. Dave Greenlees of The Old
Motor reported that the sledge was dragged from place to place by a big Caterpillar
    tractor.

Two shots from "Morocco." Dietrich departs in the Rolls to search
for Cooper in the desert as co-star Adolph Menjou looks on. Pics
    thanks to Last Goddess.

Also thanks to LastGoddess, a photographer catches an informal shot
of Deitrich with Monroe, herself already a screen legend. This appears
to be about 1956 the time Dietrich would have been shooting "Witness
for the Prosecution" -- a true screen suspense classic! Charles Laughton,
Elsa lanchester and Tyrone Power were never better!

This photo reminds me of a "pipe dream" business idea I had during my short career in the charter transportation industry.
Rather than have the fancy folks enter stretched Lincolns and Hummers on their hands and knees wouldn't it be nice for the elegant clientèle step gracefully onto a running board the sit down in luxury?

I've seen this photo before. I understood it was during construction of the Empire State Building.
