The ones you see of road racers are when Green Valley was used as a Road track for SCCA.

This is the last for tonight at least, will post more either tomorrow or Sunday. Id really appreciate it if you guys would take the time to bump this thread and contribute anything you can, every story is apart of the history of these tracks and when theyre gone this is all we have left, might as well share it with someone.

Here's some pic's of cars that I ran at Green Valley,Caddo Mills, Cedar Hill
and Circle Drag Strip in the early to mid 60's.
I never ran at Yellow Belly. It was an outlaw dangerous racing place.
You needed a gun in your pocket over there even back in the day!
In the early 60's there were only two speed shops in Dallas.
Custom Automotive on Pearl St. in downtown Dallas, and AEECO,
(Automotive Engineering and Equipment Company) on Irving Blvd.
There was also Calvert Automotive in Denton who did balancing and
racing engine work. Wayne Calvert is still in business there.
Ed Mabry had a machine shop in west Dallas and did race car stuff.
Ed made me a heavy steel billet flywheel for my C/A.
The Vietnam conflict put an end to my racing but maybe saved my life.
I was building a tailpipe tubing sbc C/F dragster when I got drafted.

These were taken in 1966 at the AHRA Nationals in Green Valley. I had a note the "Old Smokie" was by the Anderson Bros. & Simpson. The one pix shows the scene from the covered grandstand--VERY neat for the Texas sun. The Harrel pix was taken at the Holiday Inn in Hurst, Tx. I have a set/booklet of the drag racing rules for 1966 w/ some very cool pix. Will post some later.

All I did was google "convert 8mm to dvd" and it found a zillion hits,,
    here are just a sample:
FYI: once you get your movie on a dvd,
depending on how large a chunk you want to post,
you can open a free youtube account, upload the video from the dvd,
then you can post a link to it here, i believe.
correct me if i am wrong

There is so much that flows through the HAMB and posts like this get missed. To those who posted all the photos, thanks, these are great.

Green Valley Raceway 1969, which lies under a subdivision about a mile from here. Up until about about 2005 the cross-track bridge and some of the original asphalt was still there

I live a block away from it, have most of my life. The burnout box and starting line are actually still there, you can see it from the road.

I ran a c/sports formula 4 corvette ther in the 60 s. It cost $5 to enter but if you won your class you could take the trophy or get your $5 back. I was there one Sunday , and they were having a top fuel coupe promotion happening. Top 16 racing for $5000.00. There were only 15 cars there.I entered the deal with my little oorvette. It paid $200.00 to qualify, I qualified 13th , 3 had blown up! Of course it looked stupid , but the crowd loved it. I went up for irst round hoping the other guy would blow up. ( this was in the 60s) he didn't ,but I got my $200.00 . Back in the pits I took off my slicks put on my street tires loaded up my wife and kid and went back home to Arlington in our 63 corvette coupe.
